Hey, Qui. I would be more than willing to contribute some funds for your time. Being that I'm not a programmer and I'm really beginning to get frustrated attempting to program Kronos, it's just sooo damn deep, making an 80's 90's set like the Motif has would be AWESOME. Korg should hire you as a programmer. Thanks again. :verycool:

Great sounds, but many sound like Wavestation presets, though that's hardly a bad thing.

One thing you could do to bring out even more of the "big" Kronos sound would be to use some more analog-synth waveforms to accompany (or in lieu of) of the Wavestation/JD-990ish PCM waveforms you're often using, and/or add a soft white noise PCM tone with the same envelope settings as your short-attack PCM sounds to give them some more warmth and character.

Not sure if it's possible since I don't have a Kronos yet, but it would be really cool if you can use the AL1 sounds in wave sequences too, or even combine sounds from some of the different synth engines in the same wave sequence.

Great, looking forward to it! Also looking forward to meeting you next week for the workshop. Should be very interesting based on all the info, soundsets and videos you already have provided us with.
Finally meeting the face that goes with the hands from the videos :D

true,

the main reason is that the complete soundset relies on lots of new wave sequences i've created.

I've also got some good news, the original 32 sounds per soundset are expanded to 64 sounds per set. As i don't do filler sounds it was a lot of work, but i've managed to create two sets with lots of great ambient / new age / chill out sounds.

so with two sets (magical space and magical clouds) there are 128 sounds available when they are ready.

What is really missing (or only available to a small degree) in the Kronos IMHO are

- a) enough lead synths covering different styles, from rock to r&b, nujazz etc. I'm NOT talking of the classical trance detuned saw and the like (which for my personal taste belongs to the most trashy parish fair sounds ever invented by mankind), but about sounds useable for proper melodic stuff and for soloing in different styles. Stuff like you find it in presets of Moogs, NordLeads, etc.

- b) a wider area of sounds in the "fast synth" and "slow synth" categories, suited to accompany the styles mentioned above.

In both areas the Kronos doesn't offer by far what it's VA engines could deliver. But since you are more into ambient and dance music, I'm not sure if you would like to do something like that. Some of these sounds would suit an 80s set as well, by the way.

in the 80s set i'm working on there are several leads that are setup for soloing, but you are right, the lead area on the Kronos could use a lot of new fresh sounds.

I saw in your signature that you have a virus TI, i don't know if you got my soundset for that synth, but that also has lots of leads in that set. If you don't got it, just go to the Access site and the download soundsset page and search for the Solar soundset. This one contains 128 free sounds for the Virus TI that i programmed.

You are far too generous, Qui. But I encourage you to listen to the demos at this site to get an idea of what I believe is sorely lacking on the entire line of Korg of synths. Again, a HUGE thank you for all you have contributed to this forum and the Kronos community. I almost purhcased the Motif XF because of this guy's programming.

I remember your Solar set with lots of skilfull ambience and trance sounds on the TI, but I don't remember the leads in there (can check that next week when I'm back from vacation).
My main sources for classical leads, covering different non-Techno/dance styles on the TI, have been the Matt Picone and the Howard Scarr sets back then. When I started using the Virus (beginning with the Rack XL which I would love to have back), I hoped it would be my swiss knife for all. I still think it's extremely versatile, but like we already discussed, it is rather a midrange tool than a synth for great basses or leads (with the exception of techno/trance/dance leads).

Both for basses and for leads the Kronos VAs have a much better basic tone from my view. I will always use my TI for harmonic content and arpeggio stuff fitting well into all kinds of mixes, but for basses and leads I use my Moogs so far and really would like to use the Kronos VAs much more, if they only offered a broader pallette of leads for many non-dance styles.

I listen to and like almost anything from Bach over rock, funk, r&b, jazz and jazzrock up to Metal, and I also like some forms of electronica (some dubstep or certain musicians like Jack de Marseille etc.). But I guess, apart from my broad personal taste, many users play a) in cover or tribute bands or b) in different bands covering a broad range of styles, and everbody needs lots of different lead sounds for that. The amount of r&b leads, no matter if classical or nu r&b, for example, seems to me to be close to zero on the Kronos.

Knowing you're working on a set with such artists made my day :) It'll be nice to have some ATB's sounds as well.

ATB is covered as well in the set, the arp like sound from 'could you believe' is in the set.

if you got a specific sound wish from one of the tracks of atb, let me know, i will see if i can add that sound (if possible)

Love the demo. Really looking forward to your soundsets. Like the idea of a modern dance set.

Now i was in doubt, so i checked, you are right, the first 32 programs are leads from that soundset but they are more suited for the dance style then the 'howard scarr style'

I have some Virus TI soundsets that were never published and i was mixed up with those. Especially the Yin Yang set had some great 'standard' lead sounds.

You are doing great stuff either way, Qui.
Go ahead with whatever you like and be sure I'm interested.
And if you do non-dance leads some day, be sure I will buy them.

P.S. Your Vector Movement Pad is a BEAUTIFUL filmscore pad.
