For me, and I can only speak for myself, I made a choice a few years ago to never join Facebook. I realized that I would quickly get caught up in it and spend even more time on the computer and not making music.
I'm just mentioning this because one of the things I've noticed here is that we all tend to spend too much time not making music but doing other things. I am on a few forums but the only one I check out regularly is this one.
As for buying keyboards and checking out new synths, I really need to get my act together and use and enjoy what I should be doing. Making music!

So. On that note, I'm going to go have supper and then get into music! Listening today. I'm on vacation but soon I'll be playing!

I wonder who on this thread will have the first song done?

LOL, Facebook. I am on there for strictly business reasons, to help my online store.

You are correct, it can be a huge time suck, since some get lost in it , with 1000s Of likes, etc

Interesting thread.....I'm just as guilty as anyone for sure....My newest weakness in gear collecting started about a year or so ago....Pawn Shops!!!...Well one in particular....Started out one day I walked in and they had my Kawai K5000W for $250....Then I went in a couple months later and they had my Ensoniq TS-12 for $400 but I waited a few more months until I got it for $250....Now 2 weeks ago I went in and they had an Open Labs Miko Timbaland Edition for $1699 with a flight case....After a few days of not getting it out of my head, I caved and called them....Got it for $1500 out the door....Don't get me wrong, I'm on cloud 9 because it is such a cool piece of gear but I'm also thinking I need to urge myself to stay out of that shop...LOL....moon

A TS12 for $250.00 Oh! My! That is a find. I am jealous. I have always wanted one of those to play around with. They were very expensive new. I keep an eye on GC and have found some good buys there. I got a Roland G8 in excellent condition for $899.00. Maybe part of the GAS experience is actually forums like this that we can post and share our excitement about a piece of gear we purchased with those that will understand our glee.

I wouldn't call the items you purchased as a GAS issue as much as a steal deal situation. Who wouldn't jump on it if they had the funds.

Great catch on your part.

Unfortunately, I also still have the same problem.

I thought it would end when I got my Kronos, but I sort of stumbled into Synth DIY, which had taken up far too much of my time, although I've now built what I intended to so, hopefully, that episode has now ended

However... I've been after a decent 88 note weighted keyboard for the past few years, I've had two (Fatar SL990 and an Akai MPK88, neither of which I was happy with). Last week a Roland XV88, in great condition came up on ebay for £375, so how could I resist

Luckily It arrived safely and I have to say, although it's 14 years old, I'm surprised at how good the keybed is, very comfortable and responsive, and I've got an XV engine to muck about with.

Anyway, enough... time to fire up Logic :D

If you think Synth G.A.S. is addictive, you ought to try it with guns. They are REALLY addictive.

I have WAY more gins than synths, and if you look at my sig, (not my SIG, that's one of my pistols) you can get an idea of how many are in my gun closet.

Sounds like your synths are mighty safe. Maybe you could sample the sound of all your different guns and make a tune. You know, like Guns and Roses.

I am happy , that long time ago already I recognised
that more and more gear does not make me a better musician .
maybe practising does , or listening to good music ??
or inspiration from fellow musicians .

@ joe gerardi
you seem not to be the most tolerant tool in the box...
what is your problem ?
after reading your comments here
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 0c367a500a

and after visiting your website (actually a waste of time)
I tend to the question:
what especially do you want to compensate for with your guns ?
why do you mention that in a music/technic forum ?
(was this below the belt line already ?) --> (hope you understand ?)

No biting (or biting ears off, yes you know who you are), no eye gouging, no hitting below the belt. When I say break, I want you to break. I want a clean fight, OK? All right, touch gloves and come out at the bell.

What he said!

Plus, lets not discuss guns on here ok guys, it never ends well.

Waterdrum, no need to try and pick fights.

And you are entitled to your opinion...

Regardless of its veracity.

I also own 2 airplanes: do you have the same opinion about those?

I have 16 computers: same thing?

Think what you want. I can't see why whatever you think would have any influence on me.
