I sold my roland mc 808 to buy either an ipad air2 running gadget or a new electribe..... unfortunately, I love hardware.
So until korg give us the option to copy parts from different patterns, import new samples, more IFX options I'll always feel conned.

I just can't seem to put together any decent beats or tunes together on it and certainly not as good as the demo patterns.

I just want a melodic step-sequencer, in sequencer mode I want to be able to enter notes or chords!

I think we All know the E2 ain't perfect but I'm very happy with it for money for now!

Wouldn't it be great if you in sequencer mode could just use the <and>-buttons to chose the part of the 4/4 beat and just use a knob to change the key?

Yes it would. Not hard to implement i think.

D--n, if I had sold my MC808 for this, I would have been very upset. Knowing what I know now, I would have gotten an iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini whatever number they are on and filled it with the electribe apps and other apps to help my laziness in recording.

I have owned at one point, still have some, every single Electribe ever made. I hope like many of you. There are pro's and con's to every unit. This one, for now, has more cons than pros at the moment.

My biggest complaint that keeps me from making better sounds and music is the lack of step edit for motion sequences. So this is my number one hope for the next firmware version and part import from different patterns.

I personally don't think we are going to see an update/change until they release the sampler version. Unfortunately this isn't like video game updates. Fingers crossed they prove me wrong.

I was thinking, if Korg said "Right, you can have seamless pattern changes, no release/IFX tails cut short, no amp envelope pops and clicks, no note stealing due to an underpowered CPU... BUT... it'll cost you.. Only 8 parts per pattern." I think i'd go for that.

Uhhh...I am assuming you mean a TR-808 and not the MC-808. MC 808's can be had for cheap.

I wouldn't. Once you get a basic rhythm track going with about six or seven drum sounds, you're left with only one or two parts for actual synth melodies.

I wouldn't. Once you get a basic rhythm track going with about six or seven drum sounds, you're left with only one or two parts for actual synth melodies.

that pretty much equals the EM1

Korg will have to do something about all these complaints/wishes or people won't buy any more new ones. At the moment, it's looking like it will make a good sound module.
I kept my rs7000 and mp-7 to feed midi sequences into the electribe and was being lazy. I have started to use the shortcuts and getting into it more and the end results are getting better. I miss my mc808 but it can't achieve what the electribe can do (no samples). I'm not sure if the electribe is a better option than a powerful ipad and gadget though

I guess i'm focusing a little too much on my workflow, using something else to provide the drums and piping them in using the Audio In feature (i prefer sampled beats and i'm rubbish at programming drums...). This would leave 7 synth parts. If it changed patterns nicely then i'd be having different voices/settings/fx in different patterns, so those 7 synth parts needn't be "fixed" througout the track (of course you can do this now if you're prepared to hit stop, change pattern then hit play again whilst recording). Plus, i'm thinking that the 8 part thing could be an optional "high quality" mode, so you'd still have your 16 parts per pattern if you wanted them.

In terms of new features, I would request a "safety" feature added to switching between patterns if changes have not been saved.

In the menu system, allow me to set "Unsaved changes confirmation to YES or NO".

If it is set to YES, then when I have made changes in a pattern which have not been saved and switch to a different pattern using the main menu dial, then before switching I should be required to press Enter to confirm the switch.

If it is set to NO, then it should just switch as it does today, discarding any changes.

On the old EMX I rarely lost pattern edits. However, with the new Electribe having the pattern change dial right next to the Oscillator dial, I've lost work by accidentally switching patterns rather than changing the Oscillator.

This happens mainly when setting up a new sketch with the right set of Parts. It's very frustrating because sketching out the basis of the new track and matching the selection of drum and synth parts is an intensive creative exercise. Losing this and having to start again should be avoided if at all possible.
