Maybe Kronos == something like R3 * 9 ?
Doing thiat has worked in the past a few times, but KORG have learned not to leave any traces of code or embedded images in their files for us to strip out. I think R3 in this case is not a new R3 product, but simply revision 3 of the animation something like that.

I think we need to be listening to the sound in the video and looking at the name. The name suggests time, and the demo sounds wavestation like. Problem with this is the OASYS covers all this, so is this an OASYS II ? An OASYS with competitive pricing ?

Regards
Sharp.

Korg Kronos 9 -- a new keyboard with only nine keys.

The traditional 76- or 88-key keyboards have too many keys to choose from making it hard to make music.

Having nine keys makes it easier to play!!!

Lovin' all these ideas/thoughts about what this 'Kronos' might be!

Patience will pay and we'll all find out soon, but the thing I note is that the word 'micro' is not used which is a very, very, very good thing...

So that says to me that it's at least something I might be interested in!

Whatever it is I'm thinking it'll be less than $1000 - I see korg getting out of the expensive stuff for now.

Of course it's gotta have 88 microkeys: how could it "travel easily and fit effortlessly into any stage or studio, at a size and price usually reserved for performance synthesizers"? (which is a quote from the microstation teaser).

Bear with me:

the real name of the thing will be

KORG
M1 Kronos

M1 to signify that it's a milestone like the M1 was,

but also will easily read, in astute ad pictures,

M1Kronos

will subliminally suggest that it belongs to the Korg's strategy aimed at little hands (300 million Chinese children in piano schools. Korg plans do to a yamaha on China, it will open piano and organ schools everywhere).

Also,

M1kronos will evoke Mykonos,

so enticing a special niche of the market, percentually small but culturally very influent and artistically well legitimized,

which was already aimed at by Roland's Gaia, the first LGBT-friendly synthesizer.

Step aside, amateur forecasters and second-guessers, a REAL expert in Oriental Conspiracies is here to help!

Next instalment: Apple's and Halliburton's involvement in the making of Kronos

[did you notice that it reads SONOR-k when read in a mirror? Coincidence? I think not. Grok-Sonor-k: need I to say more? You know what I mean]

..I am excited now... do you think all 9 keys will be able to be played with the elbows? - I guess that makes it a Yamaha arranger eh?

as usual, your amateurish guesses are leading you nowhere [-X

It's not 9 keys, it's not 9 octaves, it's not 9 oscillators.

Here's some real dog food for thought.

Kronos, 9

right?

How will everybody call it in a couple of days?

The

K9

k-nine, got it?

Now, here is a prototype of the Korg Kronos 9,

as photographed by one of our spies who sneaked behind enemy lines:

It's indeed some kind of big, really big monotron.

It's still mono with no midi ports, but it's got a nice smell (not when wet, though)

Happy New Year.

Based on the ad and many past discussions I'm expecting a new first-class instrument from Korg that is suitable also for professionals.

The best workstations, OASYS and M3 are discontinued. If KRONOS is "amazing" then it must be at least similar and also better in some aspects, if possible. My guess is: KRONOS will be a workstation-type instrument including physical modeling for better - studio quality - acoustic sounds (piano, bass, brass, woodwinds, strings). + Improved user interface, improved sequencer, RH3 keybed. For portability it will have a removable "brain" (like M3 Rack) or will appear in rack or standalone/plug-in software form.

All you have to do is look up the marketing speak in the Oxford Basic Marketing Dictionary for Dummies (I always do):

'one instrument to empower your creative spirit' = 'you'll find working with this instrument inspiring'

'prepare to be amazed' = 'you will really like what we have to offer'

So I expect the workstation to feature a KAOS style pad, plus a glissando strip above the keybed.
...
It sure would be nice to be empowered in that way.
I would feel less empowered if it turns out those features are missing.

All this marketing talk is empowdered clarity.

Or is it an allusion to M-power?

Hey, look at this.

Somebody posted on harmony central a youtube clip by a certain famous synth producer.

I translated it from Japanese. It says:

"Winter Namm 2011.

Get ready.

We are releasing a new synth.

It's a very good product. It's perfect for some musicians, less perfect for others, totally unsuitable for many, but we plan selling enough, hopefully one to you and another to your sister, if you got some money left from last time you bought our previous synth last year.

It's not completely ready but we promise we'll release patches and fixes within the year or so.

It works fairly decently though. Better then the older synths, for sure. Even if it's less reliable than the older, more fixed-and-re-released synth you own.

It's got better guitars and more kalimba-laced-pads than you can shake a joystick at.

It will change the history of music, somehow. More than Gaia, less then the minimoog. Less than Napoleon, more that Billy Jay Shtrummer, legendary former mailman in Podunk, currently keyboardist in the legendary Gimmeshelter band, the most important "Happy Lemons" cover band south of Anchorage.

Will it open you perspectives? yes, at least you'll have to get out of that shitty bedroom in order to buy one, and you'll meet real people in the process, loser. You could even get laid this time.

It can't really do much good to you if you can't play or program a sound,

so forget about "getting empowered". Either you got power yourselves, or we can do little to empower you.

The new product is based on how many waveforms and synth engines we could stuff in it, based on the current price of cheap technology.

We had planned putting some really fancy stuff in it, but it would have made the thing too expensive, so forget it for now.

Maybe next time. Open a thread on Korgforums and post your wishes. We'll look at it daily. Really.

We had also planned not to compromise to much in sound quality, but then we thought that you're going to record it on a 300 bucks laptop anyway, and that only 3% of synth forum geeks really gig live with our top-of-the-line products, because they are afraid of damaging them,

so some compromise somehow happened.

This way you'll have something to quarrel about for the next three years in Korgforums, splitting the crowd in one half bashing this new synth, and the other half going Khomeini-Funerals, headbanging and stone-throwing included, every time somebody will criticize it.

Hope this was clear enough.

In order to make it not too clear, and leave some space for guessing and phantasizing,

we did this release in Japanese only.

take care".
