it only happens when i hit the key pretty hard, but other keys do not make the same sound when I hit them equally as hard.
I heard it OVER the keyboard volume (with the keyboard up about half way on a piano patch...)
If it's a B, it is most likely the same clanking others are hearing. A few of my Bs definitely clank. My board is going in shortly for keybed issues.

If you are sure that is a fault and want to record it here I will need the details (ser. no., model, location).

A) MODEL: Kronos-88
B) S/N: 000442
C) PROBLEM: Notes cutting off. Grand piano for instance, playing a piece and suddenly notes will cut off even though my finger(s) are still on the keys. Problem is intermittant but happening with greater frequency now, to the point that I can't rely on recording a studio piece without this happening at some point (or at least one time) during the performance. One performance resulted in multiple cutoffs and I had to abandon the performance.

A) K61
B) 803
D) Netherlands
C) One key is going up too too slow so when played fast on it it does not reach its maximum velocity like others (middle D key under the touch screen).
However I will let it repair later since I still can play/program etc and don't have gigs in the next months.

Michael,
As there seems to be a multitude of different keybed problem types, I have logged this as 'stuck key' so as to reduce the total width of the spreadsheet. Eventually, I may just combined all the various keybed problems in to one 'faulty keybed' column.
The latest results were sent to another forum member yesterday evening, so he could produced a link to the spreadsheet today. Obviously, your problem missed this update but will appear on the next one.

Thanks for all the work to help supporting fixing this problem ... I will keep the synth because it's still playable but yes, it needs to be fixed.

I had the same problem with my Kronos61, but played through a SP250 from Korg. Problem was a defective Damper Pedal. It was a long way to find the fault, as it also happended when not pressing it. Did you already tried with another one?

I couldn't reproduce it on my 61 but I haven't a damper attached.

For me, it sounds as perhaps something is inside, which does not belong there (kind of Dirt, little piece of paper, Paperclip

. Did you already try to use compressed air? I know, it sounds rediculous, but sometimes it helps

Haven't tried it, but seems like a good idea ... it doesn't sound like it touches anything, but it might be dirt/soft tissue or something alike, can be at the bottom or behind the key, it's hard to say.

Just for the record as I've stated before, note cutoffs occurred on the 73 I had whether the damper pedal was attached/used or not. Thanks to someone here mentioning that, it's the first thing I tried. It sure looks like this particular key bed problem is software related. Especially since some of the 61 non weighted boards are showing up with it. Other key bed problems like the clanking keys thing have to be mechanical.
It would be surprising if the new OS doesn't fix the note cutoff issue.
New Kronos 61 Owner and my data

Hey all...first time Korg keyboard owner (though a happy user of the Korg D16 and D3200 a few years ago) but a fair amount of experience with synths, and I’m working through the fairly substantial learning curve of this beast. Sold my Fantom X6 to help pay for it, and tone-wise, I’m WAY happy with the trade-in results (they hardly even compare, except for the build of the X6 which I actually prefer).
That being said, there are a few problems I’m running into in the early stages of using this.
Here’s the relevant data:
a) Model:
- 61 key
b) Serial number:
- 001962
c) Problems:
- Fan - as already noted, it’s noisier than expected, but I can live with it for the most part.
- Stuck or skipped notes - when using it with Sonar (with the Kronos set “local off”), I get stuck notes all over the place. Then I noticed that some notes when I play aren’t sounding either. Somehow the note-on and note-off messages aren’t being processed perfectly by the Kronos when routed back by Sonar. So far, the Kronos plays perfectly by itself (not routed through Sonar). I’m using an RME Fireface for audio and MIDI and have never had a problem like this with 3 other keyboards, so I’m pretty sure it’s related to the Kronos. Also don’t have any problems (that I’ve noticed) driving/playing the Kronos through Sonar using another keyboard. That would seem to indicate that the Kronos isn’t generating proper note-on and note-off data to send to Sonar (and route back to itself).
Next step will be to try the USB interface of the Kronos itself and see if that still has problems with Sonar.
- Software bug (or something) - I’ve had at least two occasions where the panel buttons just stopped responding in multi-mode...I could switch the sounds on an off (from the 16 tracks) through the touch-screen, but the corresponding buttons (positioned over the sliders) just stopped responding. It took a reboot to clear the problem.
d) Country
- Currently residing in Deutschland/Germany, but I have an American model (120V)
Have lots of questions about programming this thing (which diving into the manual somewhat helps, BUT...), so I hope to take and give some good info/advice regarding this thing, and we can ALL be better Kronostronauts.
Cheers,
Wadrad

A) MODEL: Kronos-61
B) S/N: 1331
C) PROBLEM: Only once, there was a partial freeze of the board. LCD would not respond to touch, controllers were still working, but keybed was dead. After restart, this has never recurred and I have been using it for more than a month now.

I had put a Korg DS1H damper pedal on the Kronos. For the longest time I didn't know that you had to "calibrate" it on the Global page, so it just seemed to work as a regular sustain pedal. After finding out about calibration, the problem(s) I've had with notes cutting off seems to have disappeared, AND the pedal now works as it should - as a half damper! No more note cutoffs - at least for the past couple of days since I did the calibration. I'll keep watching/listening for note cutoffs but for now I'm ecstatic!

So, does that mean your entry should go from 'Problem' Kronos to 'No Problem' Kronos?
I also have the DS1H pedal. Fortunately, I did calibrate it as soon as I fitted it and my Kronos has worked perfectly so far.
