It is retarded to have filter cutoff on the RIGHT side of the board. :S
I'm sure a lot of thought went into calling it King Korg too.
You are independent. You just proofed it!

ok, so anyone catch the piano in on of the demo tracks. HUH??? Acoustic piano- how can that be? Makes me question if the demos are mixed up. They also have some Hammonds in there. We need some more videos of this thing

Well the official specifications are up on the Korg website and it has... tada! Zero synthesis options. It's literally as bare bones subtractive as you can get with an Fx section and tube slapped on at the end of the signal chain. I'd call tnis the most unimpressive/overhyped thing Korg has released since Krome.

It's not mixed up.
A PCM oscillator is mentioned in the spec.

I'm sure it's the same pcm piano sample in the MKXL.

How do you mean ZERO synthesis options? It has virtual patches, which is basically a mod matrix. There's 2 LFOs and 2 envelopes in there. It's not really zero!

Gotta love the glowing sweep of LEDs though... Seriously, having seen it in action I get it now, as most people are right handed, I get putting the filter on the right even. But if it really is designed with live performance in mind, lack of aftertouch and assignable performance controls (forcing the use of buttons so switch between things) seems a bit of an oversight. And nearly £1k??? Seriously?

It does seem a bit expensive, I was expecting something in the range of £500, as in terms of power, it's quite similar to the Roland Gaia, which doesn't go for much more than £500.

It can be reasonably assumed that you can't use sources as controls in the mod matrix. That is, I highly doubt you'll be able to patch the output of an oscillator to global pitch for instance. I'm expecting the patch sources to be exactly like the MMT engine. IF you're right and it actually has a legit mod matrix, maybe something as flexible as actually being able to repatch the whole signal path in a modular fashion then yeah, King Korg would be a beast! But you know it's not going to be like that for the price. I don't see ring, sync, or cross modulation between the oscillators, it can't do anything fancy like additive resynthesis and I even doubt the LFO will be faster than 100Hz like MMT if that. 3 osc with analog modeled waveforms, some ROM and a (single) multimode filter sounds sooooo boring it's unbelievable. If you want innovative synthesis options look to software (Alchemy, Zebra), or instruments over 2.5k USD (V-Synth, Kronos).

Normally what something is called would have no effect on what I thought of the product, but king korg, I strugle to take it as a serious product.

Every time I hear its name mentioned in vids, I laugh.

I honestly think if I was in the market for a new synth in this price bracket, the name alone would put me off considering it. I'm not normally shallow about such things, but such a cheesy name makes me think cheesy synth.

KK is a watered-down Radias. It's a bare-bone analog modeling synth.
