It is a step sequencer, therefore it always quantises your notes. The resolution depends on the tempo of your pattern, usually it is 4 x 16th notes at normal speed.justaround wrote:I have looked through the manual and was not able to find out much about the quantise!Ted3000 wrote:RTFM.justaround wrote:Hi everyone can you adjust the quantise on these new Electribes? Quantization is the "snapping to grid" of notes input through the pads in real time recording mode, when played by sloppy human fingers. It has nothing to do with the swing function.
Swing is a timing variance that is applied like an effect to a part after it has been entered in the sequencer. It shifts beats around by an amount set by the user. It has nothing to do with quantization or the sequencer's note resolution.
RTFM is a helpful suggestion given to first time posters who barge into a forum to ask a question that is addressed in the manual, which is freely available to anyone who searches for it.
Next time I walk into a bank, I'll walk past the sign that lists the hours of operation, and shout "Excuse me!!! What are your business hours? It's OK, I write deep house!"

I disagree, quantise as is swing is about timing variation. RTFM is disrespectful and rude try it next time your in a shop and see how quickly said manual get shoved down your throat!! If you read my post I said I had already read the manual so your comment is redundant.Ted3000 wrote:Quantization is the "snapping to grid" of notes input through the pads in real time recording mode, when played by sloppy human fingers. Quantization *is* about timing; everyone knows that. RTFM is also rude, no question.. Still, "Excuse me!!! What are your business hours? It's OK, I write deep house!" is *very* funny, and should be recognized as such. Also, the information you seek is in the manual, on page 13:justaround wrote:RTFM is disrespectful and rude try it next time your in a shop and see how quickly said manual get shoved down your throat!!
"4. Changing pattern setting
The following list introduces main setting related to patterns in the
edit menu.
Refer to the “Parameter Guide” for each setting.
SWING: Adds shuffling or hopping feelings by shifting sound
timing.
BEAT: Sets beat (rhythm) of a pattern.
LENGTH: Changes length of a pattern. You can set it to length
from 1 to 4.
PATTERN LEVEL: Adjusts sound volume of the entire pattern.
KEY: Sets pitch for scale reference.
SCALE: Sets scale for playing with the trigger pad or the touch
pad by turning the Keyboard button ON.
GROOVE TYPE and GROOVE DEPTH: Adds playing methods
of typical musical instruments and / or a groove which could
reproduce a feeling of the song to metronomic part sequence data."
..though admittedly not in any real detail.
from what i understand; there is real time and tr type recording.
quantize in real time would come down to ppqn. this is parts per quarter note. I don't know the resolution but would guess it's no less than 96 and no more 512. the notes entered in real time recording would be quantized based on the closest click to where that quarter note lies.
please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have an esx.

If it is the same as the other Electribes (which, not having researched this in the manual I believe it is) then it is not possible to have any other resolution other than 1/16 notes, or 1/32 if you adjust the "beat" setting.jbl wrote:from what i understand; there is real time and tr type recording.
