sorry for the simple nature of myself when it comes to terminal and such but here goes.....i picked up a pk a couple of weeks ago and have been wrestling with terminal ever since in order to get it to work how i want.
basically i just want to be able to switch between the 1st 16 scenes, i know it should be easy but i'm having no luck, i've read through the read me file a thousand times and it just makes my head hurt.
if someone could just post exactly what i need to have in the config file and what i need to type into terminal i'd be forever grateful. i've been trying "farmpad -c ~/farmpad/settings.txt" but it doesn't seem to do anything.

thank you so much!!!!
i'd been trying to run farmpad and then run the commands, guess that shows the true novice nature of myself when it comes to terminal.
thank you again, you've just made it waaaaaay easier for me to use the pk at a gig next week!

hi everybody!!
farmpad rocks !!
I've got 1 group of 16 scenes that represent 16 songs (gate clips and scene triggers), with the XY, hold, flam, roll and velo, prot and rel val assigned to some FX parameters that repeat in each scene.
I even made a little visual metronome, with switches lightening following a 4 1bar-clips follow suite...
that's really GREAT !! thank you so much flycycle!!!
May I have some requests ?
-when selecting a scene, with "sceneswitch_1"+"Pad 1", I would like to be able to programm a group of pads that illuminate just the time of this "dual button press" (i.e to know wich pads that trigger a live scene in this pad scene...)
Even better would be the ability to make some illuminate for a first group, and some blinking for a second (I got two types of pads in my song-scenes
with this I could "browse" my scenes while playing, and have a blink at their pad configurations (I have gate clip trigger pads on the 1st row, and live-scene trigger pads on the others, but in each scene-song they are not disposed the same way, and some songs fill two scenes, some songs are short in terms of live-scenes but lots of gateclip pads... ...
-this is not a real request, but a question:
DID YOU MANAGE TO ASSIGN MORE THAN 16 SCENES ???
I feel like the assignations are the same between pad 1 of scene 1 of sceneswitch 1 and pad 1 scene 1 sceneswitch 2 ???
amI wrong ?
what is the tip ?
excuse me for beeing messy
thanks again for this app, that saved my padkontrol and gave a second birth to my live set and gig pleasure !!!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you accomplish this?

okay, let's share
that's for ableton Live users...
you put 4 clips in an empty midi track in live, all 4 in the same "follow chain" : set them up with the "next" follow action, at the frequency you like (1bar, 1note...). with this done triggering the first one launches the "follow chain": clip1-clip2-clip3-clip4-clip1-clip-2 etc.
you then assign 4 padkontrol switches of your choice to these 4 clips. set these switches to be the same parameters one each of your scenes. and set them to "trigger".
done ;
(hope I was clear
(I made a dual visual metronome this way, with one set of 4 switches mirroring the tempo (1 lighting switch per beat), and a second set of 4 switches mirroring bars (1 lighting all 4 beats) , so I know where I am in long sequences, so as to be all right when I have to trigger the next livescene !)
cheers

Hi
You are "the man", thanks alot for your farmpad
I have a question, it's possible to have 2 or 3 padkontrols in same time on the same computer with the farmpad, every padkontrol with different setup?
We are a live act of 3 guys and this will be absolutely amazing for our gigs!!!!
We will have your name on our t-shirts
Take care!
Looking forward for your reply!

It's in the works, but will be a while before it's finished yet. The main problem is that there isn't a straightforward way of creating a virtual midi device in windows that I know about. I might end up using something like hubis loopback to get it working, but ideally I'll come up with something a bit easier to use.
Theres a very nice alternative for creating virtual midi devices in Windows

very easy to set up
Looking forward for that windows port of your awesome app,
it's difficult to understand how Korg didnt include something like this already built in
chaneging the pads mode

I can´t get the pads to trigger mode or any other than the default switch mode....how should I proceed??I´ve trying writing all kinds of things on the terminal: "pad_1 mode:trigger" , "farmpad pad_1 "mode:trigger"" and don´t semm to make any changing....I´m from brazil and really dig this app. all the best mauricio

Hi, sorry I've been AWOL, busy times for me at the moment!
I've just uploaded a new version of farmpad with a bunch of new features - I'll start a new thread for it.

I've only got one padKontrol so I don't know what'll happen. My guess is that it won't work, but it's worth a try! If anyone feels like sending me an extra padKontrol then I'll try to get it working

Yeah that's not a bad idea, though you should check out the new scene selection stuff in 1.3 which makes life a lot easier

To put the controls in trigger mode you need to use a configuration file. Check out the example config files in the download, particularly 'switch_triggers.txt' which puts all the switches in trigger mode. To load a configuration file you run farmpad with the '-c' option, like 'farmpad -c ~/farmpad_configs/switch_triggers.txt'.
Sorry about the readme file, it's hard enough to understand when English is your native language.

I've tried to tidy it up a bit in the new version.

thanks flycycle, I downloaded 1.3.1 and will check out this "new scene selection stuff". I'm sure the thing is now far better, but I guess I still would like to have the possibility I described, perhap's a little messy... that is to have a kind of visual blink of what types of pads is composed the scene selected by pressing sceneselect+scenepad (i.e, blinking pads, illuminated pads and dark pads could let me see what assignements I have in this scene, i.e., gate clips, trigger clips and track mutes...)
cheeeeeeeeeeeers
love farmpad and long life to flycycle

Hello everybody,
first I would like to thank you flycycle for farmpad,
really great what you can do with this little app.
I'm a long time Live user and bought a Pk a few weeks ago,
but with farmpad it gets it's real potential.
I'm really interested in the control mode,
I've running it and get correct midi feedback for active clips back into Pk,
that's what I was searching for for a long time,
but sometimes it's buggy.
Especially when you trigger clips on different tracks together, or hit more than one pad at a time, something gets confused,
all lights stay lit or are all off.
Perhaps somebody can confirm this behaviour?
Another question is,
should the other controls as track mute, record or the loop status in clip view already work with feedback to the Pk,
or is that still in development?
Until now I could only get the clip feedback working,
perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
Under Midi preferences I've set control surface to none, in and out to farmpad.
My config file reads like this:
led:Ola
pad:5,9,13
channel:1
//group:
//control:
//mode:trigger
pad:6,10,14
channel:1
//control:
// mode:trigger
Pads 5,9,13 control 3 clips in track one
Pads 6,10,14 control 3 clips in track two
but no sign from any other element on the PK.
Any help would be cool.
Steve
