Might anyone here have any updated info on Korg's handling of the PA2X Pro LED issue? My board is in the shop with several failed LED's. It's been over six weeks and the tech doesn't know when it'll be ready because the replacement parts still haven't shipped.
Why would/should this take so long?

My own Pa2x was repaired in December 2008, and the left and right panel boards were replaced. Since that date I have operated my Pa2x all the time via a UPS power supply and a distribution board with mains surge protection.
Despite all this, two more LED's have blown, the "Display Hold" LED and the "Tempo Lock" LED. So I'm really upset, there seem to be real ongoing reliability problems with the Pa2x design that Korg are unable to resolve. I wrote to Korg Italy about it and received no reply. I hope someone in Korg will take responsibility for this matter and will publish an update on this thread.

Rob

Hi Rob and DmKeys
I'll update my situation.
First, abt two weeks ago I was told by Korg to take my PA2X to a service center of my choice and it would be repaired under warranty. I now have 4 LEDs not working.
Then I talked to the product manager who recommended that I not take my board anywhere until the parts were located. That was 10 days ago. I sent an email reminder 2 days ago but have not heard a word!
DmKeys, I wonder what part of the US you're in? I'll will take my board to Dallas, I live in East Texas abt 140 miles south east of there.
If they've had your board for SIX weeks, it doesn't look good for me!!! It shouldn't take that long for repairs!
Good luck guys,
Don P

Hi don,
I'm in New Jersey. It would be nice if the people at Korg would communicate better. I'm glad they told you not to bring it in until parts were located. I don't know why they explicitly refused to allow me to do that when I asked for that accommodation.
At the moment, I've made arrangements with the service center to return my keyboard and call me when the parts get in, but I have no idea when that will be, and I was without my board for six weeks, which included many performances that I needed it for.
to Korg : It´s better to change all Panel-LEDs

to Korg : It´s better to change all Panel-LEDs an build in bigger pre-resistors. So the LEDs shine a little bit darker. So that it is enough for zhe stage.
When there was a small charge of bad LEDs, so its not good to change one after an other.
At this time 3 LEDs of my PA2 are out.
Effect. Mic on/off and Style Bank A
This is no small Problem. All 3 or 4 month in my PA2 a LED blows off.
So in the first 2 Years (of warranty) there may be 8 or 10 mistake-LEDs.
And after 2 years we have to send all 3 month the PA2 for a 6-Week-Repairing.
Half time playing and half time service shipping.
And what about the costs for shipping after warranty ?
The PA2 (plus package = > 1,2m) is to long for private shipping.
And when someone from the USA have buyed from Thomann Germany, than it is twice difficult.
So its better for the User when Korg will change alle LEDs from the Panel under using bigger pre-resistors. (Also when there is only 1 blowed LED)

I'm still waiting.
I persuaded the shop to give me my board back in the meantime. They're going to call me when the parts come in.
This is really poor customer service on Korg's part. I can understand why there might be delay's, but they really do need to better communicate with their customers and techs.

Oh yes, I agree with you. I hope Paolo and the KORG team are looking into this. There are some music shops around here who used to carry the KORG arrangers do not carry them any more as they themselves are saying that PA2x arrangers are unreliable and and I have seen a lot of the Pa2x are returned.
This is the reality.

LED Problem - PA2X vs PA800

Despite their overall technical similarity, I get the impression that the PA2X is suffering from the blown LED problem to a far greater extent than the PA800.
It may simply be a case of a reporting difference, in that the PA2X buyer is more likely to be a forum user than the typical PA800 buyer, so we get to hear more about any problem with the PA2X.
Anybody got any thoughts on whether there is a difference between the two models on LED reliability?

The PA800 has other LEDs, and there is no Problem.
The PA2 has no other problems. The Beast is the best Stage-Key

Some good news - I just heard via a private email that there will be a further investigation by the Korg factory in Italy about the LED failure problem on Pa2x's. Apparently they have been very busy completing the design and manufacture of the SV1 and that explains the long silence.
This Pa2x investigation will now be the next priority. Since I live close to Italy and my Pa2x is suffering a second round of LED failures after its initial repair last January, I have agreed to provide my Pa2x for further testing.
This problem affects Pa2x only, not Pa800 Pa500 etc.
Until the exact cause of LED failures is determined it would probably be best for those with blown LED's to hold off on repairs. But by all means notify your shop of a warranty issue if your board is still covered.
Best regards,
Rob
