weird.

"multi dimensional" and all, and you use a masterkeyboard with not even aftertouch?

not to mention lack of controls for separate layers?

sounds like a "dream setup"... with a missing leg.

Got to admit, this very reason was why I've been holding off buying synths for the last 6 months! There seems to be a recent (last few years) trend of keyboards that don't transmit after-touch.....

Roland Juno D (etc) Stage, JP8000, Korg M50 to name but a few.

Unacceptable for me - I use after-touch an awful lot.

Hence my looking at M3, Fantom and now Kronos.
Yamaha SY77 & KX88, SSL Nucleus, Korg Kronos 61, Wavestation A/D, Access Virus B, Roland XP30, DeepMind12D, System 1m, V-Synth XT, Focusrite Red16Line, Unitor 8, Akai S3000 XL, Alesis Quadraverb+, Focal Shape Twins, Full fat iMac, Logic Pro X, ProTools 2021, loadsa plugins.

Yes... and in particular, it's getting impossible to find aftertouch on any lightweight boards. i.e. ones light enough to easily gig with. The boards that have it now are mostly the high-end (and heavy) workstations. It's a real shame since aftertouch is of particular value in live performance, where so often your other hand is not available for knobs and wheels because it's busy playing another part.

Very good taste.

He probably didn't transfer all his OASYS stuff to Kronos yet. And then, there's the LEDstravaganza.

Yellow notes at important places on the OASYS (Volume slider, Program button, Start/Stop button) for better visibility.

He often uses similar yellow - maybe fluorescent - adhesive strips along or around important sliders, buttons, controls. It helps a lot on a dark stage.

Perhaps he's keeping it for sentimental reasons - like the old work-horse that the owner won't send off to the glue-factory....

Hey, that's more than two! :) But it just occurred to me why JR might endorse various keyboards: he gets them earlier. Pretty smart, lol.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who posted in this thread because I initially started out aiming to buy a Kronos 88, but after reading all this I'll probably go with a 61. The reasons are mostly versatility, portability, and ease of seeing the Kronos screen when it's a top keyboard. I'm considering revamping everything as Kronos 61, VAX77, K&M Spider Pro stand and QSC K10, none of which I have yet. I'm not sure yet about the VAX77 since it's so expensive, but no need to decide on that until after the Kronos arrives. The odd thing I noticed about the Spider Pro stand is that it's selling some places for $299 and other places for $199. What's up with that? But I guess that's getting off topic.
