The new generation of Korg owners must have more concern for thier clients, seems like someone new at Korg Japan really cares. What do others think?

Billy

Well if this is the way the new generation of Korg owners do things, then it can only be a good thing.

Brass EX3 is a sample set. So you need to load sample data from CD's.

LAC-1 and MOD-7 are software synths that don't use any samples. So just the synth software download (in demo form) is required which then requires authorization.

As far as I remember, LAC-1 and MOD-7 demos were included in one of the OS updates, so only need authorisation codes.

There are extra LAC-1 & MOD-7 & EX3 sounds on korguser.net and on these forums under downloads.

Kevin Nolan did us all a massive favour by making just about every DX patch known to man available to upload to MOD-7......

Despite my previous misgivings (in other words I was too tight to part with my money) I have to say I am now a MOD-7 convert. I have always thought FM was amazing. Still a way to go to get some of those silky smooth Yamaha SY sounds but loving MOD-7 :soundsgood

Thanks Korg and Kevin... =D>

I had my letter too, but didn't get all gooey 'cause I had already paid for all of them. For me, it was more than anti-climaxtic  , the barn door was wide open and no horses left inside. All you see is the back side of the horse as he runs like hell to be free ! .

I'm glad to see you're all as divisive as ever, it just goes to show ya' that's why bands never stay together.

Happy trails buckaroos,

Yes, letters are arriving in Australia, even! I'm thinking of keeping mine sealed in the envelope. It might be worth something one day... :D

My best guess would be that when you buy your used OASYS you ask first of all, has it been upgraded?!

If yes, no worries 8)

If no, then you ask if it has been registered on korguser.net.

If no - then register the OASYS in your name and you should be able to go to the download area for the upgrades/unlocks.

If yes, you need to ask for their login details or get them to change the owner details and then set new login details for you to have.

If yes, and they refuse to help you login, then you have to contact Korg direct and ask them to update the ownership details.

Until you can login to korguser.net, you won't be able to upgrade the O (you will also need your public ID which is available on screen if v1.1 or above has been installed - if it's lower than V1.1, then you need to get install disks from Korg).

Hope this helps!

My guess is that giving the expansions away for free was a judgment call.

It may be that very few of us purchased expansions, and even fewer purchased them all.
So, Korg had an opportunity to appease the many and chance pissing off the few and so they took it.
Like all things sales, it's a numbers game.

Where I find the burr in my underwear is that Korg thinks it's generous to give those of us (like me) who purchased the Oasys expansions a discount on libraries for the Kronos.
Actually, once again this is a marketing strategy since, as others have said, this necessitates buying a Kronos.
Might work for some. All I can say is Ouch.

C'mon, Korg. Christmas is just around the corner. Freak us all out in a groovy way by playing Santa Korg and give us OS 2.0.
Or at least update the darn sequencer...
Delusional?
Perhaps, but as my sweetie says, when you're out of hope, hope for more hope.

Peace,
