No reason to do anything unless you want to keep the handful of old organ sounds. Not that many really. I couldn't see a reason to do anything except load the new ones.
That's true. I guess I'm just going to have to look and see how many I actually use and relocate them. Can't really be more than 20 I figure.

Gentlemen and ladies, I have updated all the other operating updates without any problems-including downloading several libraries.

However...this time the files seem very strange to me After I load them into my computer before extracting to my flash drive, I keep getting different combinations of things. This has never happened before. What are the only files that should be on my flash drive to load into the Kronos?

Thanks for the help as this situation has never happened before!!! :) :)

p.s. I am only talking about the 2.1 update. I don't think I'll have any problems with the other two.

I would really appreciate some help. I've done the other system upgrades, no problem. I have tried 40 or 50 different combinations. I am pulling my hair out and I don't have much left. I would love a simple explanation!

Thanks... :) :)

Hi Denny
I keep getting different combinations of things.
This seems very odd???
What are the only files that should be on my flash drive to load into the Kronos?
I realise that you are experienced so please don't think I am insulting your intelligence here... just trying to help...

Make sure the USB drive is correctly formatted (if in doubt, format it on the Kronos)
Just extract/unzip then copy all the files (not the top level folder - see below) into the top directory level of your flash drive - that will work

When you unzip them you will get a folder called "KRONOS_Update_2_1_0" - DO NOT COPY THAT FOLDER TO THE USB drive, just its contents
The top level of your flash drive should now have the following files and folders:-
  • bc
    DisplayUpdateMessage
    install.info
    Kronos_Update_2_1_0.csum
    Kronos_Update_2_1_0.tar.gz
    Manuals (directory)
    mdSsum
    mnt (directory)
    posttar.sh
    pretar.sh
Just leave them all there (even though you don't need the "Manuals" folder)

If this fails I suggest you perform a fresh download and also try a different USB flash drive.

Good luck - let us know how you go...

Just curious. How big is all this?

Can we omit the documents folder when updating OS? I've always thought that the intrinsic help system on K relied on those pdf docs... Then the docs should be embedded in the binary files in the root directory, right? One more thing, korg.com/kronos documents download section contains E5 versions, while the update doc folder has the E6's... Weird...

I had plenty of space on my USB stick so I didn't bother messing with the manuals directory. But, I posted somewhere that I assumed it was not needed, and it was confirmed that you can remove it. Which of course, makes sense as you state.

Did the full update last night, everything went flawlessly.
Have to say the programmers did a great job as well as the sounddesigners. Thanks to Korg! Now the Kronos is close to the neo ventilator and on the same level like my NE3.

Unfortunately I found 2 glitches:

In program mode i had some hanging notes on some keys whilst playing the new CX-3 organ programs. Never had such things prior to this update. They disappear as soon as the hanging key is hit again.

And in some combis with organs the new feature showing the leslie speed doesn´t work. It always remains on "speed fast" although speed has been toggled to slow by footcontroler. It´s not happening in every combi, most of them do the job as expected.

Anyone else experiencing this?
Cheers, Michael

No clue on the first one, but perhaps you have multiple leslies in your combi? Like inside the CX3 and in the IFX as well?

Got my K back yesterday and did the updates, no problem. The bootup screen looked like a series of Korean characters until I put my glasses on and saw that they were the synth engines:) I too have thought about a Vent pedal, but I think the new Leslie sim is plenty good enough for now.
