^ OTG USB is a way to connect devices such as storage directly. Most Android mobiles have it. You can use a OTG cable and connect a UBS stick for storage, or a webcam, mouse, keyboard, hub, etc

If the e2 runs some sort of embedded Linux it might be possible to connect a USB hub and then plug in a load of devices, given the host system has the right modules. Though I doubt they use anything open source as the GPL license would require them to release the source code.

If Korg uses any GPL licensed code in their devices they can be forced to release the source code so you can build your own firmware.

If all of this were to happen, the giving out the source code-part, I think it would be a liberal and wise move by KORG to let anybody experiment with the OS. Though there should be a hard-reset switch underneath the unit, to format and restore original OS.

If your own programmed s**t doesn't work? RESET! ;-)

^ That would be easy. Just like most wireless routers have a failsafe mode, you hold down certain buttons and the device boots up in flashed allowing a firmware to flashed again.

A bit like DFU mode on iPhones. I'm sure pretty much all firmware-flashable devices have such a fallback mode.

I'm curious about the boot modes the e2 has. The manuals says not to hold down any buttons or pads while booting, so there must be something :P

About 18 hour to go before NAMM opens. I can't find any Electribe stuff in the Korg schedule. Wonder if there will anything about the e2 at all, other than maybe showing the sampler version. NAMM is not really a place to announce a firmware update or firmware fixes.

It looks like the E2 hard ware is OTG USB compliant!

but not supplying power right? it would be awesome if it does so I could connect my k-board or lpk to it w/o going through the computer as a host... maybe I'll see what it does tonight

HINT -Something big in the pipeline that will help all Electribe 2 owners
We will have to wait for announcement at Namm to confirm

My take - something monumental

"there is a firmware swapping feature to load the sampler version and vice versa"

"there is a Software editor for Electribe 2"
Has there been anything said anywhere else besides some music store twinkie?

I don't know....the more I think about it, it might be like a month or two before we get another update, since that's the time more electribes (and the Sampler model) will be available, at least here in the US. Right now a lot of people are struggling to get a hold of one.

Unless...what's the availability of them in Europe/Asia...anyone know?

I asked this very question on the original thread and in a PM. While the chip set and usb set up is compliant, the most important question is if the components are wired correctly for power. No power, no OTG.

As expected no update for us, no new e2 stuff, no new firmware, no fixes, no smooth pattern changes, no FX tails, no step record, no putting in notes with pads in step edit, etc, etc

And as Kilko pointed us at, there's a new USB driver :
