quantize in real time would come down to ppqn. this is parts per quarter note. I don't know the resolution but would guess it's no less than 96 and no more 512. the notes entered in real time recording would be quantized based on the closest click to where that quarter note lies.

please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have an esx.
If it is the same as the other Electribes (which, not having researched this in the manual I believe it is) then it is not possible to have any other resolution other than 1/16 notes, or 1/32 if you adjust the "beat" setting.
oh no, really?
if this holds true for the new ones, I'll be saving for an OT after all.
That's way to limiting for me.

I don't think anyone should expect too much from the new videos just yet, i mean, i have some idea how to use this unit having had other tribes in the past but i can tell that it will be some time before i pull anything worthy out of the bag. Perhaps there's a race to be the first to show off, i don't know but it is early days.
Some of the preset patterns, while not being my cup of tea, do demonstrate the thickness & texture that can be achieved & it does sound nice. All it needs is users & dedicated downtime, then we might hear some proper good vibes.
I for one won't be joining the race. I'd rather get to know it & then put some recordings out that i'm happy with. s**t man it's easy to throw out some basic stuff with a rhythm & some lead but that's not all it takes to make a good listen. I've only scratched the surface & i can't tell which way this is gonna go yet.... Will it be a winner or not ?

It does draw me in, no two ways about it. I'm going to be buzy with work for a few days so i'll only be dedicating snippets of time with it. On the upside as i spend time with it, i chip away at the thing. The only question i'm asking myself about it is can i produce 4 to 4 1/2 minutes of tune on the thing ? I'll know the answer when i get some dedicated downtime with that event recorder. I'm waiting for the veil of confusion to lift first, maybe plan an event ! haha. :?
