That is somwhere about right. It went from exitement, to realisation it wasn't the full tribe, to "what the hell, i'll buy one, it can't be that bad" , to "Hmmm", to "It has some endearing features", to, "It's missing some stuff for my kind of use", to "No wait, let's be positive", to "I'm bored of it after 20 minutes" (I missed a couple of stages out) ...... But it does sound damn good !sauce wrote:It didn't seem like that to me.. It seemed like a steady progression from positive enthusiasm to neutral to "let's be positive about this.." to mild frustration to.. And that accounts for a lot, actually. Since it sounds so good, and it's really the sequencer/transitions-between-patterns that suffers, I will likely purchase one anyway and use it like I used to use the DX200. I will sequence all the notes via an external sequencer and only clock the MIDI to run multiple stages of motion-sequences.DrHoo wrote:But it does sound damn good !
Sounds like a good plan to me. I've been jamming a pattern tonight with it & it's just full of tricks even within a single pattern. With some thought & practice & some dedication i believe great things can come from it. I know it sounds like i'm blowing hot & cold a lot but i guess i'm just sharing the journey. In context my gripes are mostly justified i believe, personal requirements aside. I was the same when i first bought a new esx1, moaned about some stuff then but went on to enjoy lengthly sessions with the thing. Others shouldn't be put off by my winces, there are better electribe users out there who will have a different take on it.sauce wrote:And that accounts for a lot, actually. Sound Demo !
Yes i did a demo for ,well, demo purposes. This is a quick jam in one pattern, event recorded in the machine & then recorded into audacity. No external processing, all tribe sound.

You deserve to hear it (The machine, not me) especially after putting up with all my gripes.

With regards to hot and cold @DrHoo ,at least your not throwing your box out the pram and storming off because someone mentioned the Q word ,informing us how all good music shops stock your tunes... ahem.
No ,it must be frustrating when the've missed some tricks again. At least they (Korg) experiment I guess. It does sound like a super KO-volca.
Hey @sauce ,which external Seq will you use?
I noticed you're half of metatron cube aren't you?
Piles of gear on the floor,in a smoke filled room on youtube. I like that.I was buzzin on you guys when the volcas came out.Quite original coz you dont speak (which is often good) and we cant tell whats going on exactly but can see enough to get an idea.Quite atmospheric ,sounding like a free fall jam.
Nice I like that style of music you do and the presentation.
..Sorry folks for off topic.

Haha, yeah, i'm like a wave display hovering above & below that flat lineroblabs wrote:that's why I say mostly neutral, Doc....you keep switching the sides lol.

The bass line is way below the laptop speakers radar. Is it audiable where you are ? It was thunderous on my monitors.Well let me say the demo sound quality is quite excellent. Nice jam, that's definitely backing track material.

im listening right now with some Logitech speakers. Yeah, I can hear the bass, but im sure it will sound louder if I listen to this on my monitors (which I will do later on). But that's a very low sub bass. Seems like it has a very broad range.
One thing I like is that this doesn't sound muddy at all. you can hear all the parts quite clearly (i'll also confirm this some more when I hear on my monitors)

I am not sure where I am going to go as far as sequencing is concerned. I would like to use some of the more feature-rich MIDI sequencers like the RM1x/RS7000, but the size of the machines make this impossible. I want to keep everything in a tiny flight case to make airline travel very hassle-free. I will probably use an Akai MPC 1000 running JJOS, although something like this would be nice: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2014/ ... sequencer/Spheric El wrote:Hey @sauce ,which external Seq will you use?
Although I used to have a project called "Metatron's Cube", and I used to have videos under this moniker, I am not involved in the project you are referring to. They have some pretty cool work, though..Spheric El wrote:I noticed you're half of metatron cube aren't you?

Re: Sound Demo !
It does sound really nice straight out of the box, some bottom end extension and a nice amount of separation between sounds. One thing that's always bothered me about such units is the lack of outputs and therefore an often muddy overall sound, from what I've heard at least, never owned one personally.DrHoo wrote:Yes i did a demo for ,well, demo purposes. Can I ask if you were going to principally be using this for live situations? So the 'mind the gap' issues, 4 bar restriction, lack of event recorder editing capabilities mean it's unsuitable for what you wanted to do with it?
Congratulations for not flouncing after telling everyone your music was available on all major retail sites as well. Your equanimity is a credit to you sir!
Definitely a nice sounding demo, thanks for that. The low end on the bassline is really nice, which is honestly what i've been hearing on a lot demos, even those that had music I didn't care for.
It's not easy in hardware to get a nice present low end that doesn't sound out of control too, and so far the new Electribe sounds like thats not an issue at all. I'm getting one mainly for mlive use myself, can't wait to get this one on stage and hear it on a big PA.
I think once more people get their hands on them, we're going to start seeing more tips and tricks to either get around the issues people have, or to at least inspire people enough to forget the few "gotchas". At this point I think it's safe to say there's been enough hands on reviews that people should know what any issues are and can decide if it's still something they want.
