This is mysterious to me ! I admit i am baffled.
Forget the name or which thread it was, someone last week informed everyone that all their music was downloadable on all the major music sites, intimated that the new Electribe was pants and beneath their superior skill set and flounced off.

How is the machine as a midi controller?

Post by jim555 »

I plan to use this as a midi controller as well as sound module (Drums mostly).

How does the pad feel and how is the velocity sensitivity on these?

Do the pads send out all the midi notes when in chord mode?

What info can you send out with the XY pad? Can you use it to control hardware synths/effects parameters via midi cc# messages?

Thanks.

I read that post. I thought it was odd for a guy who has music on all the major music sites to be complaining about a $399 groove box.

You figure someone like that would be using more than one $399 groove box when gigging/recording.

Does the arp output midi?
I might consider controlling the unit with my RS7000.

Now we're talking! Plus, the video right above your comment shows *far* more of the performance aspect of the EMX2.

I listened to and watched this carefully. The only audible issues i noticed was when the fella was playing with the stutter/looper towards the end of the 4 bars, this sometimes smeared the first kick of the following bar. I'm sure he changed pattern at least once and nothing leapt out as sounding gappy/glitchy. Plenty of interaction going on and yep, it's not my musical cup of tea but the box sounded good!! A nicely timed reassuring little vid!!

If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

With good handling of effects especially one that gates or the sound can mask a small popping sound made by a gap or glitch. I've delt with the uncontrollable looping of the Kaossilator pro for many years and would put that sound through the KP3 and in many cases a good modulation delay or looping effect can do wonders.

Delay is your friend!! Slap it on thick that's what i say...

Yeah - I think when he would do a beat-repeat effect on the end of a measure, he lifted his finger from the pad just a little too late, so the first kick of the next bar was obscured by the effect.

Not a staggering musical achievement, but way more interactive and live than some of the early demos. This is the way to go - build something basic that you can jam and perform with.

I think this video shows – even though the music is very generic – that the master fx offer a lot of oppurtunities which the EMX did not offer.

No "ESX2" though. They'll probably have it in NAMM in January.
