I thought our favorite Dj got eaten by some giant snake in South America and was on his way to becoming a couple hundred pounds of anaconda poop.

Welcome back buddy!!

Korg did an A1 job on 1.3.3 (despite my whiny @$$ driveling about more sounds.)

Also, I bought some Oasys and Triton sounds from James at Irish Acts. He did good.... real good. More than worth the money I paid. On a scale of 1-10 I give him a 1.

One being the highest, of course...(hehehe, scared ya, dint I Jimbo?)
Seriously, some great stuff!! Long live Oasys AND the Mighty Trity! LOL.

Heck yeah I woulda come to the rescue. But South America is a long ways away and I woulda been there a little on the late side...therefore, my rescue kit would've constisted of a pooper scooper and a giant diaper to shovel ya into! LOL.

I wish I did ski...but I can ride on hell of a mean toboggan!! Hehehe. Nah, I don't ski. When I was younger I would fall and bounce back. Nowadays, when I fall, things just break off! And I am running out of appendages. HEH!

Well, I'm off again to me studio to play with some more of those new effects on me Oasys.

Later, Gator

Unable to load new effects for V1.3.3

Post by marvelous88s »

Hi all.

No problem loading update 1.3.3, and verified I had Karma 2.2 installed.

I have followed the instructons three times to do the update for the effects but it doesn't happen.

Is anyone else having this problem or perhaps have a suggestion?

Thanks...

Just curious - how did you verify that?

I'm sorry that you've encountered difficulties loading the effects.
Can you be more specific about what you mean by, "it doesn't happen?"

Just to confirm, you first downloaded the PRESET.KFX file, transferred it to your OASYS hard drive via USB or CD-R, and then did this:
1. Go to the Disk Load page.
2. Select the new PRESET.KFX file.
3. Press the Load button.
A dialog box appears.
4. Press OK.

At that point, the new presets should load into memory.

You can then access them as described under "Using the new Effect Presets:"

1. Go to the IFX, MFX, or TFX pages, to see the parameters for any individual effect.

The Effect Preset popup menu is in the upper right‐hand corner of the screen, just under the main menu, labeled with a blue "P." Initially, the menu will simply show a line of dashes, "‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐," indicating that no Effect Preset is selected.

2. Use the popup menu to select an Effect Preset.

The effect's parameters will all change to match the selected preset. To return to the stored settings, use COMPARE.

After selecting an Effect Preset, you can continue to edit the effects parameters to suit your taste. If you like, you can save your edits as a new Effect Preset, using the Write FX Preset menu command on the IFX, MFX, or TFX pages.

Note that while the PRESET.KFX file includes presets for most of the effects, a few may not have any. For a full list, see the "List of included Effect Presets" in the docs.

I hope that this helps!

Free time for you guys....

It’s a synthesizer with lots of oscillators and it makes more possible sounds than Korg could ever program for it in our life time and even if they did it would be the sound of Korg speaking and I would honestly rather hear MY voice.

“ sounds, sounds, SOUNDS are what we are looking for most of all”

I want to be me, not Korg…but like the lessens. The sounds to me are just lessons to learn how to program what I want to be as an oscillator with coloring filters to throw in the sky and play with. Try being one and I bet you like the new walls Korg gave you lucky sentient dogs.

“But programming sounds and performances is a time consuming and arduous task”

yea…but jezzz…look at ALL the new Space Korg just gave you...and so is paying attention….you’ll break even but not till ya get there so I’d put my seat belt on if I had an OASYS right now and pay attention to the speedometer;-).

Actually I meant to say verified version 1.3.3.
marvelous88s wrote: I have followed the instructons three times to do the update for the effects but it doesn't happen.
I have now been able to access the new Effect Presets. GREAT.

I have used and modified Effects but I have not previously used Effects Presets. I was imagining that after the update when I selected Insert FX page I could press the selection icon to select an effect and I would see a list of all of the new effects something similar to the List of Effects and Presets in the 9 page User Guide. So when I did not see all of those options I thought the new "effects" had failed to load.

I now understand; as an example, I need to:
1. Select IFX tab
2. choose a category of effect from say Insert FX tab or Track View then
3. select a new preset under the previously selected category from the blue P (for presets) in the upper RH corner.

From that point you can modify some parameters and amount of wet to dry. From this page you can also turn off or on the preset to hear the effect.

I hope that this helps!

This did help and thank you. Your detailed approach made me go back and read thae Guide without my own expectation and finally the light bulb goes on - duh - it's Presets we're talking about for each category of existing Effects.

Thanks and there is some great work in the presets that reminds me of the potential for just about anything one could imagine, the great sounds the O makes and the creative reasons we're all here.

Regards,

Marv

Installation went smooth - everything works as it should. 8)
I recommend following the manual to the word - you won't have any troubles then. If I wouldn't have done that I'd forgotten again to unplug all USB-connections.

As for the effect presets: again the manual provides an excellent explanation how to install AND find them. I played around with them and find these VERY usefull. It's another quick way for programming sounds. I selected the A000 Piano and tried many different effects on it. That's nearly as much fun as stepping through a bank of brand new sounds. :D

The effect presets are described very well - you always get an idea of what will happen by just reading the preset name. And I find it quite amazing what you can turn a simple piano into.

@Korg: Thanx for this update and esp. for this big collection of effect presets - it's great these were for free! 8)

Yes, the FX presets greatly speed up the process of editing sounds. Great free upgrade from Korg, thanks once again!

It shows that Korg also see it as a small release, as it is 1.3.3 instead of 1.4, or 2.0.

I think patience is the key at the moment.
same here!
My exact thoughts!

I believe that the 1.3.3 is what was finished, and that 1.4, or whatever the numbers will be, is soon to follow with the rest of the M3 update.

I think we all tend to think that way, me too,
but maybe the best advise is not to hold our breath waiting for it.

No one knows for sure, as usual, but perhaps common sense points out that most of what weve seen released for the M3 probably wont see its release for the OASYS, ( new sounds, maybe, as the O has plenty of sounds already) while some other maybe will see its release some day for the OASYS (new M3 Xpanded sequencer features, for example)

Well I just have to thank Korg again - over 700 EXf presets - that's a gargantuan amount of programming time.

Few could afford to pay for that time if Korg billed for it. To me - something as complex as OASYS needs programming and time far more than new software updates at this stage - and Korg have delivered outrageously well here - the list of presets is mouth watering and will save each of us hundreds of hours in all manner of projects over the coming years. Awesome. I’m personally more excited about these presets enabling me than even the release of LAC-1, for exampe. I’m serious – this amount of an archive of top-notch programming of EQ's ann othe reffects presets is priceless.

Just look at SOS magazine every month – each and every ‘classic track’ largely boils down to the experts describing their choices of outboard gear, eq’s and their configuration. And here on the OASYS , now under the hood, are hundreds or expertly programmed presets – I couldn’t do it in 10 life times and I feel vastly more secure that each and every one of these presets will act as the best, optimal starting points or as complete effects when mixing/mastering on the OASYS in isolation.

And even though as Daz pointed out the Mod-7 patches are an older release – many were not aware of them and each program there also represent a fabulous and very generous offer - as said - programming time (indeed time in general) is such a precious commodity and Korg have put the time in (with considerable expertise to boot) on our behalf. One of the best updates and additions to the OASYS ever – easily surpassing another software application add-on to me.

I would have pay a hundred dollars or more for this update. And hint-hint Korg- without batting another software-development eyelid – I for one would pay handsomely for new and very usable program presets across STR-1, Mod-7 and MS20EX in particular.

Overall – combined with Karma 2.2 – this release is a little gem.

what could be cool is that the ms20 and the polysix could read the patches of the PC version. this would "open" them to a lot more patches. or maybe, like for the mod7, korg has "second choice" (those from the mod7 are very good from my point of view) patches that were not keep for the release of this EXI
