Just got myself a new Kronos 2 61 (Yay! Joined the revolution etc..).
Just wondered if there were any essential sounds to add to the collection. I've generally play symphonic metal at the moment but I do like a bit of synthy lead from time to time
Welcome to the growing body of happy Kronos folk. I've heard that even the Queen likes her Korgies, sorry, Corgis!!
Some say all that a musician needs are a few good piano, electric piano, and organ patches, and the Kronos does that well, especially once the free CX3 organ patches are loaded. The varied sound palette that the Kronos offers is certainly an excellent resource, and there is much that can be done with the existing soundset.
However, there is a real market for expansion soundsets, and the Kronos comes with some of the available expansion packs available for preload, and playable as demos, with the sounds fading in and out. They are worth having a listen to see if any reflect what you're looking for. For me, the fade out demo times are too short to get a real appreciation of what the sound packs can offer, and have made me less inclined to part with cash. Perhaps Korg are listening, and willing to extend the between-fade durations, even if only by a handful of seconds.
