Midi/Audio Signal flow MPC1000 as master sequencer
Just picked up a used mpc1000 in great shape and want to use it as the master sequencer for my live rig, electribe 2 and microkorgXL slaved, midi sequencing hardware has been fun but challenging. Sorry to bother you guys but does anyone have a simplified flow chart for the midi and audio routing with the MPC1000 as the master sequencer. Also a side question, after I sequence and save the patterns I want, is it possible to play the microkorgXL and E2 while the pre recorded patterns are playing? for example while the patterns are playing from the mpc could I lay down some ambient pads from the microkorg in real time? By the way Buska if you're reading this I followed your advice and traded in the 500 for the 1000, glad I did, it was love at first sight and play! Thank you all for sharing your knowledge
always music
Congrats on the mpc1000!

I would go like this:
Audio:
KorgXL > E2 (input set to thru) > mpc1000 (input set to thru).
Midi:
Midi out A: to e2 midi input (the 16 channels it outputs match the 16 on the e2's pads perfectly)
Midi out B: to korgXL midi input
Midi in 1: to korgXL midi output. The reason to do this is you will be able to play the keys on your korgXL and control any synth engine in the e2 whilst also recording the sequence to the Mpc.. Super cool, and much better than using the pads for melodic stuff.
Read through that link I put in this comment. It might seem a bit overwhelming at first glance but it is actually very easy to setup and once you get it all midi stuff it will be much easier to understand. The Mpc is a powerhouse of a sequencer..
