1. Korg Pa4X missing Changing the background - color themes (Korg Pa3X yes 42)
Color management supported - 5 options
2. Korg Pa4X missing Setup-preset VOCAL REMOVER (only On/OFF) (Korg Pa3X 6x preset + value 0-100%)
Correct - I personally didn't find this very effective anyhow
3. Pa4X 400 MB RAM compress missing (pa3X 256MB compress 512 MB wav)
400MB uncompressed is what it says
4. Korg Pa4X missing calibration display
No - Calibration display same as for PA3X
5. color instruments icon ???
Hmmm - just changed….. icons very clear - how many colours do you want and for how many instruments?
6. Korg Pa4X missing vocal harmony in mp3 song - preset-type Mp3 audio (very good function Korg Pa3X yes)
Yes - removed
missing info: data that are missing in the instruction.
1. RAM info - update? compress memory???
400MB uncompressed - no missing info
2. Direct bank installation, use, edit, backup, localization in HDD or memory. Limit quantity??
Not sure what you are asking - DIRECT bank setup/usage instructions are in the detailed manual
3. Style convertor - midi files track intruments chanel ???????
As would be expected, after the conversion it is up to you to fine tune the new STYLE - obviously if you convert a non-standard MIDI file then the results will require more work - this would apply to ANY MIDI-to-style converter.
manual data is missing
The detailed manual available very soon
Cheers

So, Pa3x compressed set is not compatible with Pa4x ? Right?

Current PA4X information regarding
loading PA3X data is:-
- You can load most data as if they were Pa4X data. There are however a
few exceptions to be considered:
• Performances and STSs are converted to Keyboard Sets.
• Due to the different order in memory, Factory Styles must be manually
reassigned to SongBook Entries by using the KORG SongBook Editor
software.
• Favorite Style banks over #10 are missing and are not loaded. Since
Pa4X banks are larger, load the individual Styles into the additional locations
of the other banks.
• Performance banks over #11 are missing and are not loaded. Since
Pa4X Keyboard Set banks are larger, load the individual Performances
into the additional locations of the other banks.
• Since the number of Insert and Master FX is different, the effects configuration
can be different.
• Voice Processor Presets with the MP3 Audio harmony type are reset.
• Compressed User Samples are not loaded.
• Global settings are not loaded.
Please however check the details when they are released.

OH NO, NOT AGAIN!
It's not as simple as you think; you'll loose the style performance edits you made in a SongBook entry!.
This is a showstopper for me to even consider a PA4X!
I don't understand why on earth this is not compatible; it's 2015 for ... sake!
I'm still very happy with my PA3X, so it's not a big deal.
PA4X is not very different/better than PA3X IMHO.

• Compressed User Samples are not loaded.
I installed a backup from Korg Pa3X to Korg Pa4X compressed wav sounds and Pa4X them, working properly and play OK.
The amount of memory my Korg Pa3X 160 megabytes compressed after installation to Korg Pa4X used 320 megabytes

I assume from this that you own a PA4X
I do not own a PA4X - I wish!!!
You are probably in a much better position to tell us what is happening etc…
(You do mean that you loaded a SET and not "backup"!!!)

Since you seem to have a PA4x at your hands, why not start a topic in which you answer all the questions?

Fransman wrote:It's not as simple as you think; you'll loose the style performance edits you made in a SongBook entry!
When creating a SongBook Entry in Pa3X, the Style Settings (what you call Style Performance) is saved in the Entry.
When loading your old SongBook to Pa4X, all SongBook Entries are converted to the new format. The Style Settings are preserved.
After loading, you will have to relink the SongBook Entries to the Pa4X Styles. This can be done with SongBook Editor. Relinking will not modify the Style Settings.
A version of SongBook Editor compatible with Pa4X is under development, and will be available soon.
Best,
Paolo

Could you please also take the time to answer the other 9 dozens of questions on this Forum?
It would be really appreciated.

Thanks Paolo, for your explanation/clearing. Still: it needs to be done per songbook entry individually!
And you have to remember (or have written down; which - gladly - I did) all the styles you used for each songbook entry!
No, I really think in 2015 there should be a conversion tool to do this in one go; at least for all of the factory styles that were used!
(I can imagine that for non-factory styles this is difficult or even impossible).
Korg should make unique ID's for the factory styles and then make the correction/conversion tool available for songbook entries based on them.
Just my opinion.

Most questions will be answered when the documentation is released.
We should present remaining questions after that perhaps.

Yes, you are right, there is a mistake in the early documentation. The updated line should read as follows:
• Compressed User Samples exceeding about 200 MB (400 MB uncompressed or ‘linear’) are not loaded.

Actually, you can do it in batch by groups of entries based on the same style. The procedure is explained in the SongBook Editor manual.
How the forthcoming SongBook Editor will work, however, is too soon to disclose.
