Power Regulator & UPS...Both?

I've read the posts regarding using UPS units. I've been using a Furman AR 1215 for many years, now discontinued. If I get a UPS, do I keep the power regulator, and if so, what's the hook up order? Or, should I retire the Furman

I see no serious incompatibility with continuing to use the Furman mains voltage regulator with a UPS, although voltage regulation is also a feature on some UPS models, making the Furman somewhat redundant. I have experience with Belkin and APS UPS devices that do this.
From a wiring neatness point of view, putting the UPS before the Furman works best, I would imagine, since all your equipment is already hooked up to it. On the other hand, the Furman features extreme voltage protection, where the output is shut off when the mains input exceeds a certain threshold and only comes back on when the mains input returns to normal voltage. This behaviour might not be desirable for the Kronos and, whilst it may protect the Kronos from overvoltage, it could also glitch the keyboard. On balance, it would be best to put the Furman first, allowing the UPS to take over if the Furman goes into overvoltage and turns off its outputs.

Thanks for your in depth answer. I've had players suggest using 'Cyber Power CP 685 AVR'. Any thoughts on that unit?

I have no experience of the Cyber Power unit, but most of the reviews on Amazon suggest people are happy with it.
Kronos power consumption measured here is 30W, and stays relatively constant, even when the keyboard is put through its paces, so the Cyber Power UPS would probably run for a good hour or so without mains.

I use a CyberPower CP850PFCLCD Uninterrupted Power Supply. MAKE SURE whatever you buy supports Active Power Supplies or you could damage your Kronos.

That's the model I use. I use it at home for my computer/studio (including Kronos) and I take it out with the Kronos once or twice a month to gig. I've had it for about a year with no issues.
