Tryin to sync my yamaha rmx1 with my e2

Post by krakapow »

Pardon my stupid questions , but i cant get this to work
I have midi in from e2 to midi out on rm1x, midi out on e2 to midi in on rm1x
Clock mode on e2 set to external midi
Rm1x set to midi sync :midi (in the utility menu)
And rm1x set to midi control :out (In the utility menu)

Nothin happens smh.
What am i doing wrong?

Ok when i put the e2 in external sync mode i get some action.
But its not pretty lol, the beat gets played back in a jumbled manner and i can not control the e2 from the rm1x :(

Right now you've got both machines set to sync to external clock. You only need one device sync'd to external. The other device will then dictate the tempo for both machines.

Start with just hooking the ES2 up to the midi out on the RM1x and use the RM1x as the master clock.

You shouldn't need to run midi out of the ES2 back in to the Yamaha.

Thx guys, had a very frustrating day with this setup.
Couldnt get my e2 to sync up with my roland mv8800 sequencer neither.

But i looked at the manual and got the impression the midi setting on e2 should perhaps be set to auto?

did you checked on the rm1x that you choose midi mode and not mtc mode?
