ES2 couple of presales questions

Post by michi_mak »

i consider buying a black one and read through some of the threads but still do have some questions/clarifications:

it seems that i have to do an export all samples to save changes to factory samples or to save user imported samples (and then do an import all upon booting)?

can i use own single cycle wave forms to import new "synth sounds" - i read that this is possible by adjusting the loop points

is the voice count different to the grey version (some users seem to get less voices because of ifx and different other factors)

thank you for answering!

>>> Correct, although the E2s will automatically load the all samples file when you turn it on. Takes about 2 minutes depending on how many samples you have. <<<can>>> Yes! :) <<<is>>> In my experience with both, the same voice stealing issues occur. Though perhaps not as quickly, since the sampler version only has the basic filters. <<

I have imported single cycle waveforms and it works fine. I set the loop point to "zero" so that the wave plays, then cycles back to the start.

What I don't know is whether you can get the cycle to play forwards then backwards then forwards. I'm guessing not and not sure how useful it would even be :P

thanks for confirming! i think this option expands the sonic possibilities quite a bit, doesn't it.
btw is there any form of unison possible?

The default OSC sounds have this adjustment. Samples do not. The osc knob turns into forward/reverse setting for samples.

how's the sequencing workflow in the real world? is the lack of proper copy techniques a showstopper? it seems that you can't copy say bar 2 to bar 3?!

I never use step edit, just live recording or grid sequence mode, so lack of copying doesn't bother me.
Since everything in live record mode is quantized to 16th notes anyway its not too hard to just replay a part if you mess it up.
