Radias or kingkorg

Post by PurpleSpaceMan »

They're both in my price range however I can only get one.

Which one should I get?

They are both different synths
King korg has a lot of different filters and 3 oscillators which is a major selling point to me, however the Radias has a step sequencer, 4 timbres and duel filtering.

I was set on king korg but after reading up and listening to Radias, I don't know..

Hi,

Difficult choice to make... Both boards are very interesting.

From number of oscillators, the KK seems to outperform the Radias (3 vs 2), and it the oscillators have a lot of types as well. Most of these types are also available on the Radias, but require immediately to combine the 2 oscillators. The radias has then 4 timbres on the other hand and allows a drum part (sacrificing one timbre).
Filter wise, the KK has indeed a lot of types, no idea how good they sound.

The radias has also a modulation sequence, an insert effect and a third EG per timbre. This could be very interesting as well. The EGs can have different slopes for decay and release.
If I had to choose, I tend to go for a Radias... but that is my personal opinion.

Bye.

+1

I've had a Radias for over 5 years now and it's amazing. Even though it had mixed reviews when first released, the Radias offers a lot more than most synths out there if you're willing to dig a little. The presents can seem a bit dry or "techno" during a first listen, but when you spend time programming it--which is extremely easy and fun--you'll find a gold mine. I create new sounds every time I turn it on... and it's also an inspiration for song writing with the arps and step sequencer.

The King Korg is nice, but just not in the same league.

:D
