ESX1 Recovery Wait :(
Electribe ESX1 Smartmedia version owners, plz help! Just update my ESX1 with a file that was probably corrupted and now I get the recovery Wait... on the screen
. Please help me restore my machine guys

I was quite surprised and disappointed that nobody from both Korg and Electribe forums could help me out. My conclusion:
1. Nobody has encountered this problem since ESX-1 was released (like ages ago???)
2. Some people know but dont want or care not to help out.
3. ESX-1 is hardly ever used anymore.
4. These forums are inactive.
I found by luck a text in french on the net with instructions about how to fix this issue and translated it. In case somebody needs help with that and cant find any, here you go:
While ESX-1 is turned off press Solo (transpose) + Write (Rename) simultaneously and turn on the machine, job done. No external esx files needed.

out of curiosity, where did you get this update file? I am not aware of there being any updates, though I have only had the ESX1-SD version.
the process you describe is the factory reset, glad you got it working.
So I think,
No one has had this problem....AFAIK there where no updates to the ESX-1
There ARE many active ESX-1 users, but the knowledge mostly exists on these forums already for just about every question, due to them being out for 15 years or so...
Mostly now we just get questions about the new electribes

At the link that says:
Which goes to this link:Looking to reload the factory settings on your product? Click here!

And shows you what to do and how to check versions etc.
Hope that helps to find support quicker if you need it in the future since you only waited a day or so for a response....

There was one, about three years in, which gave better slicing and the +12db option.thesigma wrote:AFAIK there where no updates to the ESX-1

Thanx for the support folks. Im so relieved that I managed to restore my ESX1, I really love my machine. I used to repair various electronic devices like satellite receivers and stuff, in case of failed updates resulting in similar problems like I had with my Electribe, I had to remove the flash memory using a hot air soldering station, find the dump file (that was the hard part) and program it with a programmer, pain in the ass. I thought something like that had to be done to fix the malfunction. Thank God, there was no need to.
Thanks for the reply mr Sauce, watching your tutorials that are incredible. You guys have any idea which update that was that could add +12 db? Is it the 1.02 version? Ive seen pips using this +12 db function, never used it as Im in the learning curve with my machine.

I never used the +12db, AFAIK it was meant to boost the levels after resampling, not needed if you prepped your samples well before importing.....unless you like the sound of digital clipping.....mollekula wrote:Thanx for the support folks.
