korg z1 parts for repail (audio-midi board)

Post by njeremic »

hi dear korg users
I own a z1 and my audio outputs are not working properly (working but having contact problem) so I'm using headphones output. I would like to change complete audio-midi board myself and I was writing to korg support asking for part but never got an answer. do you know where I can ask for this part and order it? or any other ideas how I can fix it? I have a bit experience in opening synths and fixing bad backlights and some other minor issues
thanx in advance

How about some switch cleaner / lubricant - something like Servisol Super 10 or DeOxit D5.

Spray some of the contact cleaner / lubricant on the tip ring and sleeve of the jack then push the jack in and wiggle it round and in and out a few times. Pull the jack out and wipe with a tissue. Repeat until little or no crud comes off on the tissue. Repeat for all affected jacks. If, after this there is still a problem, it could be the jack socket solder joints have become fatigued and broken and will need to be re-flowed with solder.

they suffer from cracked solder joints as the solder is the mechanical strength on the output jacks when you fit normal jacks in they act like a lever and put pressure on the solder joints from gravity eventual they crack

you then have to resolder them then they work again and make sure you use 90 angle jacks as they dont add pressure

as your phones are working the signal for the phones is taken from the same outputs so you know they are working its a 40 min job to take apart and put back together and a 5 minute solder reflow job
