Understanding "Direct Disk" access

So how do I avoid this?

Here are a few suggestions:-

1. Delete the SB files in the DIRECT SET (i.e. only use INTERNAL SB)
2. edit the SB so that the DIRECT and INTERNAL are different (this is my choice)
3. Delete the internal SB entries (i.e. only use DIRECT SB)

I use option 2 and have my personal SB entries in my INTERNAL SB
My DIRECT SB has all the OSIMO entries

But if your INTERNAL and EXTERNAL are the same you will always get doubled up entries
Korg's free SONGBOOK editor will assist you.

Pete,
I still can't get this to work.
I load my bonus styles, 18 -27 into the favorites folder Fav1, Fav 2 etc and save ALL as a new set. 14Nov2018 on the Internal Drive.
I then load a bonus style, 28 into Fav1(which contiained style 18) and save the styles to USB stick as newdirectset. Only save styles to avoid the duplication of the songbook.
Then re-load 14Nov18 set.
Set up access for newdirectset, via global/menu/mode preferences/media .
When I plug in USB, nothing shows up in DIRECT tab??
Any ideas?

Hey Ross
It seems like you are doing it right but there must be a reason it is not working.

Let me put a simple example down here:-

You have 2 SETs - SETx and SETy
You load SETx into the PA4X so everything is loaded internally - all good!!
You want to use the styles and songbook from SETy as DIRECT access.
You place SETy on a USB flash drive and insert it
You go into GLOBAL mode>>Mode Preferences>>Media (tab)
At bottom of that screen press "Browse", then locate and "Select" your SETy from the USB
(Note:- depending on the content of SETy, the PA4X may run a conversion on SETy and create a renamed copy of it)
Now you should see the SETy styles under "Direct" tab when selecting a style and also all SETy songbook entries will be merged with your internal songbook.
The important thing is that the same physical USB must always be inserted for this to work.
Even if you copy SETy to a different USB and try to use it, it will not automatically work.
So your PA4X DIRECT access will continue to expect that USB with SETy on it to be inserted in order for it to work
Whenever you want to remove the DIRECT access:-
....go into the same GLOBAL mode>>Mode Preferences>>Media (tab)
....At bottom of that screen press browse, locate and "Deselect" your SETy from the USB

This procedure should work but if not please get back to me - maybe I can try your "SETy" on my PA4X for you.

Thanks.
I have loaded Bonus Styles 18-27 in the USER area and saved as SET X and then loaded Bonus Styles 28-32 and called it SET Y on a USB. However, it took me some time and I can't recall how I created the SET Y set.

How do I create a new set (SET Z) with my favorite styles on a USB to load into the DIRECT area.
This way I can switch between SET Y and SET Z by selecting from global/mode/preferences/media tab.
Appreciate your assistance.

OK -
Load 1-27 as you have done and save as SET x
Load 28-32 and save as SETy
Reload SET x (as I assume this is what you want to have "internally")
