PCG Tools for Microstation, help please

Anyone using PCG Tools for Microstation? I just downloaded and launched the program and now what? ….

How do I get PCG Tools to import all the program/combis in the Microstation into the program? I'd want to be able to create a custom USER bank of program and combis.

I've read through the 150 page manual; but I don't see a Quick Start For Dummies.

Thanks,

Check the chapter about workflow in the documentation.

The general workflow is:
- Save a PCG file with the microStation to a card (I don't know by head what kind of card the microStation is using)
- Insert the card in the computer (with a card reader)
- Make a backup
- Load the file in PCG Tools
- Change/use PCG Tools to edit the file
- Save the PCG file on the card (if not already done)
- Insert the card in the microStation
- Load the PCG file

Thanks for the reply and info! :)

Oh, didn't realize PCGTools was that high-maintenance to use.

I thought I could just connect the Microstation to the computer with a USB cable, launch PCGTools and start editing.

Well, to copy back and forth should not cost more than 1 or 2 minutes I guess.

There are advantages to have it without the connection:
- you can use PCG files from other sources (downloaded, backups etc)
- you can use PCG Tools without having the synth nearby
- and it makes it easier for me, since I don't have all the synths which are supported.

Okay, I have imported all the program files into PCG Tools.

I would like to create a 'favorites' banks.

Please explain how to make a cherry-pick programs from each of the banks and make (1) master bank of favorites.

thank you

Just copy the programs from one file to another using the menu, toolbar or control-c and control-v.

Probably the copy/paste setings are in such a way you cannot overwrite programs, you can change this in the settings.

Also you can use the up/down or numeric keys 4 and 8 to move up/down programs inside a bank.

Also check the manual, there are a lot of examples, and don't forget to save backups.
