Hi there,
I am new to the volca series and im having trouble trying to sync my volca beats to garageband via my interface. I am currently connecting the volca midi IN to the interface( focusrite 2i4) midi OUT and connecting the sync out on the volca to the mono jack input on the interface. This does not produce anything in garageband
Please could someone shed some light on the correct cable setup and even whether garageband is able to process the volca beats (as most info on the internet refers to logic/ableton etc.)
Sorry for such a simple question, as i said i am very new to all this.
Cheers

Hi,
I guess you mean to connect the headphone-out instead of the sync-out of the Beats? The headphone-out is a stereo connector, so I would also try to hook it up to a stereo input. The mono input might work also but not sure.
If the MIDI setup on your Mac is setup properly (focusrite is visible as MIDI interfac in Garageband, Garageband is set up as master clock) then the Beats will synchronize tempo. Start/stop of a sequence from Garageband might not work. Triggering different drums should be fine though. The resulting audio is routed via the headphone to interface connection back to your Mac. You can use again Garageband to record the audio as well.
There is no reason why Garageband and the Beats would not work together.
Have fun.
