It sounds like my old mini with some interesting new twists to sound and parameter access. And it is not cheap!

To be honest, I have not fired mine up in four or five years. When I did, it sounded fine; but who knows what that down time with no playing has done to it.aron wrote:It sounds great and that extra LFO is nice!

Aron,
The last time I played it, it sounded fine. I had some maintenance work done on it several years back and then just stopped using it. I had purchased a new Oasys at the time and never really needed to access any specific mini-moog sounds that I couldn't approximate with the Oasys.
I toyed with the thought of selling it, but no one that called really had the kind of money that it was worth. And I was not going to give it away.
Appreciate the offer though.

Just curious. What did one cost back in the 70's? I now I could hole it, but I'm wondering what you people paid.
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

Get ready for some sticker shock. The 1970 Minimoog price, adjusted for inflation using the USA Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index is…
US$61,356.88

That sounds about right, I had both ( not at the same time).Broadwave wrote:$1,495 in 1972 - equivalent now to $8,783jeremykeys wrote:Just curious. What did one cost back in the 70's? I now I could hole it, but I'm wondering what you people paid.
The ARP Odyssey was about the same price.
$1495 was a ton of $$$ back in '72 for a young musician.
credit was also much tighter back then.

I can't find my original invoice, but I think around $900.00/used. They had a bunch in a music lab in a college they were getting rid of. The thing was practically brand new. I had to buy it "on time". Did not have that kind of money back then.jeremykeys wrote:Just curious. What did one cost back in the 70's? I now I could hole it, but I'm wondering what you people paid.
I do know that several years ago, people in Japan were willing to pay $7000.00 or more for one in good shape. Here in the US they were less than half that if you could find one that was being sold. It has the distinction of being the only keyboard in my studio that has increased in price from when I bought I; although I still have hopes the Oasys may reach back to its original price.
Curiously, my mini-moog mod D is darker in color than the ones in production now. Almost a mahogany color. Serial number 4581.

Yeah that 61,000.00 number is out of line. Whatever calculation premise he was using was not being realistic. Compound interest should not play in keyboard valuation discussions.
