Unless I misunderstand your question - you can load Akai S1000 and S3000 samples - see page 451 in the PA4X manual

Hi Pete,

That information was an unfortunate mistake in the manual. It was later removed, but I assume there were already copies of the manual containing the wrong info around.

So, the answer is that you can't directly load Akai samples or programs on Pa4X. If you still have some Akai data around, you need translating software.

Do you know what version of Chicken Systems Translator can convert samples from AKAI to Korg Pa4x?
Or if you know any direct link to the appropriate version?

Thanks

I would avoid Translator like the plague. It's useless. If you need conversion software, look elsewhere.

I believe the Pa4X supports SF2 format?
If so, you can use Programs like Extreme Sample Converter, or CDXtract to convert your AKAI data and many other formats to SF2.

http://www.extranslator.com/

http://www.soundlib.com/cdxtract/

It's worth noting, Extreme Sample Converter can even convert sounds from VST's into SF2 files using resampling.

Sharp.

Thanks.

@Sharp,
I checked these software specs, unfortunately they are Windows based and I am on Mac.

KORG Pa4x does not import Sf2 in Bank format (many layers) but export Sf2 from ESC, import into Avawe Studio and export to Sf2 and this time Pa4x import even more layers.

How about Instrument format? I know the KRONOS has the same issue with Bank format but it doesn't seem to mind instrument format so long as the sample file names are not too long.

Cheers

I feel so sorry for Mac users all the time, I really do.

Other than Translator, the one program I'd never recommend, I can't think of any other options that run on the Mac. Converting an AKAI disk is something you only need to do once, so it's probably best to just ask someone with a Windows PC to convert the disk for you.

What's the name of the Disk? I have a vast library of AKAI disks and if I have the disk here I can convert it for you. It's either that or you post it to me. I don't mind, it's an automated process.

Regards
Sharp.
