Kronos OS 3.1 Freezing?

I've heard on the Kronos FB group that there are freezes with OS 3.1. Is anyone else experiencing this? Gig on Thursday and New Year's Eve! I'd rather be safe with 3.0.4 than sorry.

Thanks!

Hi,

I updated yesterday, and have seen no problems so far. Keyboards have been on since about 1100 today and at the time of writing (about 1630) all is fine.

But I have over a month to go before my next gigs, so it is a good time for me to do updates and allow plenty of time for checking things out to ensure there are no problems.

If I were you I would not update until after your gigs and you have time (say a week at least) to check it out. Like all updates, unless you are being bitten by bugs and need to update to cure them, it is best to do it when you have time to check things out.

Wait for OS 3.1.1 - definitely!

i would wait for an update, there are bugs in the new firmware that can lockup your kronos.

some simple examples (on a kronos 1):
- select quick layer in a combi, press the zone dropdown in the first layer, and your kronos freezes, you have to reboot the kronos to get it working again.
- select quick split, change the split note by holding the enter key and then press the note where the split should be, doesn't have any effect.

There are more bugs like this, but mostly aimed at the new functionality, i didn't discover any unknown bugs in the old functions yet.

Can't reproduce. All working fine.

Bug with split point in combi mode confirmed. I have the same behavior.

I checked these - on a Kronos 1 - but with me all is fine. I updated to 3.10 and all works fine, no freezes (so far). I can't reproduce Qui's issues found.

I also got no freezes, but found some issues that are not so easy to reproduce every time. I'll have a gig tomorrow, hope to find any issues in live environment.

Some issues are still last from previous OS (3.0.4), i'll make video and send it to korg directly.

Hello,
I have a same problem like QuiRobinez: "Select quick layer in a combi, press the zone dropdown in the first layer, and your Kronos freezes, you have to reboot the Kronos to get it working again". This happened to me too, immediately when I press zone and after that all instrument blocked (reboot is only way)! Enigma is, why someone have this problem but someone not?

I've done five shows on two different Kronos', both running 3.1 and I've had no freezing, dropouts or issues.

They are not frizzing during playing, only when you work with quick layer (new option) and when you press zone! In other circumstances (all options in quick layer segment) frizzing not happened (I didn't find).

Only what I can guess is that maybe this can be keyboard controller issue. I use Kurzweil PC3LE8 like keyboard controller for Kronos X73. I ask all, involve in this topic, to say does they use keyboard controller (specially users with no frizzes) or not (it will really help to find a reason for frizzes on some Kronos)?

There is freezing. It doesn't matter if your system isn't. There are plenty who are being effected and obviously they're not imagining it ;) For me, there was no freezing before but I switched off karma from bottom - put it on top - brought the sounds into sequencer - at some point it froze and required reboot. So there is obviously a bug. I'm sure they'll fix it. The layer/split etc looks good - just needs fixing.

Since the freezing problem seems to randomly occur with some owners, I wonder if previous upgrades were performed that may be the cause. Just sayin'.

Last year, I upgraded ram on my K1 using memory sticks of a manufacturer different than OEM. The required specs were correct, and other owners reported success at using them. For the most part, I had no problems. However, on occasion, my Kronos would randomly shut down -sometimes in the studio, other times on a gig. After some time, I changed out both memory sticks with Hynix (OEM), and happy to report no more issues.
