Editing Intro

When you have recorded a backing track variation with an intro, is it possible to only use the last four bars of the intro?
I'm having trouble editing this in Song Edit/Delete. I can easily use the first four bars and delete the second four; but if I try to delete the first four then the intro then starts at the first four bars and only runs for four bars - therefore cutting the last four bars.
Perhaps the only way to do it is to edit it on a computer then bring it back in, but I thought I would ask in case I am missing something.
