Beat making powerhouse
Compact, rugged and to the point. Digitakt is a formidable drum machine. With an astounding feature set and an exquisite digital sound engine, the stage is set for a striking encounter.

Rhythm is a fundamental part of music. Off-kilter beats, four on the floor workouts, polyrhythmic excursions all serve the same purpose. They provide musical structure and sometimes they even make us dance.

Digitakt is a new compact drum machine from Elektron. It contains all the necessary tools to make people move to the beat. A digital and highly flexible sound engine, sampling capability, a live-friendly sequencer, the means to control external MIDI gear. Round it off with a super crisp OLED screen and wonderfully tactile back-lit buttons. Done deal.

Drum machines are something of an Elektron speciality. With the Digitakt we show why.

Hello folks,

many great videos on Digitakt shown in the manufacturer’s lates newsletter.

Especially the one by Cuckoo is wicked!

judging from the videos, I would really say that the device is much better when it comes to usability.
In comparison is the access to edit samples in the Electribe is just cumbersome. Means 3 menu items, no waveform, no listening while edit...

So the additional price is really for the workflow and quick editing.
The only flaws are mainly

- the single master out
- the missing transient slicing.

What's your opinion?

In terms of possibilities, it looks like a simplified octatrack (less features) with improved workflow + some renewals (sampling frequency for instance).

I may be wrong, but from what I have seen (like for the octatrack), it seems that there is no polyphony (on a track basis): you will not be able to play chords (but you can sample them of course), or have a long sample on a track that overlap another sample on the same track (what you can do with the electribe).

Preference will really depend on what you want to do!

Looks pretty cool but I'll still be keeping my E2S (and maybe just purchase the Digitakt as well!). I love having the VA + sampler. The only thing that'll make me get rid of it is if another better device with these two things comes along.

the beast is finally there

Workflow is just so fast & interactive for live recording in comparison to Electribe

If it had only 8 analogue outputs... & stereo...

Sorry, e-tribe: where's the firmware update???

It's also nearly twice the price so not really a fair comparison.

Electribe & digitakt is a dangerous combination
