Pa4X Stock Piano: too dark?

Hi,
I purchased recently a PA4X , coming from a PA3X.
The original 3X piano was far from perfect but to my ears it has some bright that cut over the styles. Not the best for solo piano (I'm a pianist) but nice with styles.
Now, the 4X piano is great for solo piano but with styles it's so, so dark and thick. I tried EQ and editing the filters but seems like there's no high frequencies in it. Does yours sound too dark too? I'm at OS 1.2.4
Does the 4X have also the piano samples from 3X?
Thanks,
Jo

Which of the several PA4X pianos are you referring to?
Cheers

Hi Pete,
I mean the main kbd setups under Piano programs: "Classical Piano" thru "Jazz Piano". M1 Piano is, ok, nostalgic, but useless for me.

Hi Anthony,
I know of your libraries, but I no longer have the Pa3X... I already have several soundfonts that I can use but it seems like there's something I'm missing or there's any programming fault anywhere.
I'm very pleased with the sounds of Pa4x, they're way better than 3x but the piano sounds inappropriate, for a lack of better word.
Does anybody noted this?

Jo , it's been a year that WavesArt Pa4X standalone libraries are in circulation ! maybe you've missed that ...
A real grand piano requires more than 500 Mb for standard layers development nor sound modeling technique that is applied by WavesArt !
Decent SF2 & custom layer samples copied from VST will be absolutely a wasting of time for lower Ram features keyboards like Pa4X !
This should had been done by KorgPa in streaming factory library that could stand it !
My experience is talking ...

Anthony,
I'm aware of your libraries. They sound excellent, really, but isn't the point here: I had a reasonable internal piano sound in PA3X (while playing styles) now, the 4X pianos are too muffled sound over styles, no matter how much EQ or filter I add.
I don't use the PA4X for solo piano, I own a Kawai ES8 for that (and Pianoteq, and a lot of pianos for my Ipad: Ivory under Korg module, CMP, iRig, etc)
My question is: Is it my PA4X have a fault programming for the acoustic pianos (main sounds) or is this I have to live with and found a sample replacement?
I purchased the PA4X blindfold (as I did the PA3X). Heard the youtube videos (all played as a solo piano) and think they were ok. Still think that played SOLO, without styles, it sounds fine, full, with character but above styles it sounds so muffled...
Well, sorry for this, perhaps is just me....
Regards,
Jo

Could it be your e.q. settings overall? I find most of the pianos sound really good over the styles. Could be different tastes though!
I hope you get it resolved!

Jo , it's not a matter of insufficient programming , it's the samples themselves !
Turn off Maxx audio and try factory piano sounds again.
According to my tastes as a pianist , I could never play PaSeries pianos and I always have custom made pianos ,
I completely hate the older 15 years habit of using VST (that I develop) in my gigs with laptop/PC/Mac/external
audio cards , I have the Kronos fully loaded and developed for demanding purposes as a complement !
It's the age of "turning on" one keyboard , nothing more to carry with you , and just sit down and perform anything you like !
That's my vision that I'm working on for more than 10 years ...

Those are all Steinway samples... except for some of the NY models, Steinway by nature has a dark sound...
You probably prefer Yamaha piano's they are on the other side of the spectrum, light and bright...
So much of the darknsound actually comes from the steinway, which is sampled quite well in my vision...

Anthony can you elaborate on these warnings posted with the Piano Sample Sets.
You can’t install this Sound Library Pack if Initial Factory Motherboard has been replaced !!!
Beware : This OS & resources pack will harm any Pa4/3X with different serial number from given one !!!

I agree that many of the factory pianos are a little lacking, often too muddy in the lower end. I have created some piano Keyboards I am quite happy with by careful layering of 3 different pianos and adjusting their individual volumes in Upper 1-3.
Not very hi-tech, but works for me.

and also those new filters are not helpful at all
still loving my crisp and crystal clear triton/pa1x sound

We use software protection for those hybrid banks and decryption is based on keyboard serial number which
is strictly associated with mobo ID , so it's obvious that when the motherboard has been changed then keyboard
serial number is not valid anymore and in this case our OS loading must be avoided since it might harm Pa system !
For that reason we ought to warn clients about this rare but dangerous case.
Hope this helps

Ok got it, it's purely a licensing thing from your side tying the software to the instrument via serial number. I thought it might be something else
