Will any SD card work? Or does it need specific specs?

Will an SD card work in the Krome?

Or does it need to be a specific class, size, etc?

Any specific ones to stay away from? Any brands preferred?

I can't say that any one SD card brand is particularly favourable.

I use a basic 2GB from Sandisk, and it works fine.

They're cheap as laughter on Amazon.com.

Korg specify SD memory cards up to 2GB and SDHC memory cards up to 32GB are supported on the Krome, whilst SDXC memory cards are not. They should be formatted FAT16 or FAT32, ideally usng the Krome for doing the format.

There doesn't appear to be a list of known good and bad SD card makes for the Krome. For simple data saving the SD card class shouldn't matter greatly, since this is catered for during internal error-checking during data writes.

The Krome also uses an SD card internally for storing the OS and data and this has been known to develop issues over time. There is a procedure documented on this forum for creating an image of the OS and related data onto another SD card. For this, a fast SD card is required (at least class 10, UHS class I).

Make sure you use SD cards that are appropriate for audio capture. If you try a card that's got a high processing speed, you'll get an error.

SDHC Class 4 will do the trick.

The Krome doesn't allow audio capture, so that is a moot point.

KieranT - have you performed any tests on the Krome and observed an error when using higher spec SD cards?
