Hello
Newbie here
How to record fills on Pa4x, I know how to copy variations 1 to 2 and so on.
I try to copy variation 1 to fill 1 but didn't work, I am not sure that's how is done.
Some help will be appreciated.
Thanks JP

Hi JP

The destination element must be the same length or longer than the source...
So - example:-
You want to copy VAR1-CV1 (currently 8 measures long) drums to FILL2-CV1 (currently 1 measure long) - it WON't WORK
If VAR1-CV1 length is 8 measures, then FILL2-CV1 must also be 8 measures (or more)

If they match in length or the destination is longer, then you'll be fine

Cheers

Pete, can the measures be adjusted in length?
Yes they can - the length of the elements (e.g. VAR, INTRO, FILL etc...) and the length of the CVs (Chord Variations)

Page 279 in Korg PA4X manual wrote:Due to the different structure, you can only copy over similar Style Elements,
for example from a Variation to another Variation.
This is a very sensible quote - if you want to copy a VAR element to a FILL element you CAN actually do it but the destination element (FILL) must be the same length or greater than the source element (VAR) so that makes it very fiddly.
Also, you CANNOT do it in one single COPY - you have to do it by track/CV
Meaning that if your VAR is 8 measures long then your FILL must be at least 8 measures long else COPY will fail - another way around it is to make the VAR 1 measure long first (all seems a bit crazy though).

The question is (in this scenario):-
Do you actually want your FILL to be the same as your VAR or are you just wanting to COPY a part of the VAR?

Either way, you CANNOT copy a whole VAR to any FILL in one hit - you would have to do it TRACK-CV at a time - this is because (as the manual says) the structure of element types are different - basic example - a FILL can only have 2 CVs whereas a VAR can have 6 CVs.

Bottom line - re-record your FILL or export the VAR MIDI and re-import the bits you want for the FILL.

Sorry I can't help you with an easier way.
