No Sound on First Power-ON

Post by ken_brun »

I've had my Kross for about 8 months. The OS is version 1.0.4. Home studio use only, so it hasn't been bounced around.

The last several times I've used it, the same issue occurs. When first powered on, there is no sound. No other functionality appears to be affected. When I power if off and power it on again, all is normal.

Has anyone had this issue before, and if so, is there a fix for it ?

I'm hoping this isn't a sign of impending failure in the Kross.

Thanks,

Ken

Hi,

I encountered the same problem a few times already (my Kross is 1 year old).
I had the impression it occurs at the moment that I'm fiddling around on buttons and keys during the time the board is booting up.
Therefore I don't touch anything before the main screen pops up or when the auto power of message appears.

Thanks for the reply. I avoid doing anything with the Kross until I can clear the Auto-Power Off message.

Last night I tried waiting until that message timed out and cleared by itself and the menu came up. The audio was present.

Perhaps my Kross just needs to warm up a bit :)

I'll keep trying this method, and post the results over the next few weeks. Hopefully that's all I need to do to solve the audio problem; I can be patient 'til she warms up.

A bit more info - the Kross isn't hooked up to anything but the power. I use it as a scratchpad for initial development, then move to the Krome when I've got something I want to work out more fully.

Usually the only way I can get myself to move from the Kross to the Krome is to record the audio from the Kross into my phone audio jack for playback, and then turn off the Kross. Then to the Krome, playing back the Kross audio from my phone.

If I don't perform this "ritual" I tend to just keep playing the Kross.

The Krome is a great instrument, and the touch-screen alone is worth the extra cost - even if the FX and sounds weren't even better than the Kross, which they are.

The only reason I have to go through the "ritual" is to pull myself away from the session to make the switch.

And I do have the same problem pulling myself away from the Krome - except the solution for that involves setting an alarm to keep me from an unintentional all-nighter...
