Korg PaAS speaker - can you add a second keyboard?

Hi

I am still waiting on delivery (from the manufacturer) for my PA4x and it comes with the speaker (which was free) on he deal I got, can I plug a second keyboard into the PA4x input and run it through the PaAS speaker does anyone know?

I assume there are no inputs on the speaker itself, and wondered if it would work through the keyboard itself?

Hoping mine turns up before Christmas!

Thanks

Paul

YES!!! :D
I don't have the PaAS speakers but I often run another keyboard through AUDIO IN and I get everything out of AUDIO OUT and headphones so I can't imagine PaAS would be different.

Cheers

Pete :D
P.S. my fingers are crossed for your pre-Christmas delivery

Ah brilliant, I was hoping that would be the case so I can run a small synth through the same. Yep really hope it turns up ! :?:

The things you never think of. Thanks for this, dwummer and Pete. :)

I think I'll fire up my old 1975 Micromoog and give 'er a go at this.

All the best, Giner.

Hi Paul,

There is a subtlety you should be aware of when using PAaS and line inputs.

* The LINE 1 or LINE 2 signal is routed to the PAaS ONLY when the Audio In setting of the Global: Audio & Video page is set to "Line" (as opposed to "Mic")
* This is NOT the same behavior as what you get on the LEFT / RIGHT AUDIO OUTPUTS, as correctly indicated in the manual: "The line inputs are always enabled. They are always sent to the main LEFT and RIGHT audio outputs."
* This means that you need to choose between either MIC or LINE input for the PAaS amplification, not usually what one would expect

This behavior is unfortunate. I do not know if it can be fixed by firmware.

I could not think of a workaround for it. For example, adding a mixer does not solve everything: doing so and hooking it up to:
* LINE input will prevent you from using the TC-Helicon voice processing, etc.
* MIC input will result in the TC-Helicon voice processing being applied to the second keyboard signal as well.

If anyone has a smart idea for this, I would be interested too.

Also note: the gain of the Line 2 STEREO 1/8" input is slightly higher than that of the Line 1 LEFT / RIGHT 1/4" inputs. Something to think about / test when you hook everything up.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your new toy!

Simon.

Thanks Simon
I love information like this - definitely not clear in the manual.

Cheers

I use all the lines (1 2 and the stereo minijack line) and the mic. works fine to an aplifier so I cant see wy not to the paas.

Just logged in and seen this message about the PaAS bar!

Thankyou, I have just literally posted another new thread as for sure the bar has just turned up (very late) today after waiting for UK delivery and I cannot get the second keyboard to play for it!!

Thanks sdridentity for the information I will try this now!!

Thanks Simon (sdridentity) for the information I will try this now as even the Korg help line have not suggested this, they were struggling to understand why it was not working?

Glad to hear and you're welcome.

One more note to complete my post above:
the behavior of the headphones jack follows that of the audio outputs. So the exception is only for the PaAS...

Cheers,
Simon.

Thanks.

I have also established to get the best balanced sound from the top kross and lower PA4x, coming out of the 3.5mm stereo headphone from Kross into the 3.5mm stereo on the PA4x gives the best balance of sounds. All the others the Kross was a little under-powered and had to be put on full volume to match.

One happy bunny, I can start to learn these new toys now!

Thanks again!
