Boot-Up Time ? (Switching On)

Korg arrangers seem to be the only arrangers with a fairly lengthy boot up time
compared with other manufacturers.
This is important to me when inspiration strikes albeit rarely, and I want to try out something or get something recorded quickly
Miles Davis is reputed to have rush around to a friend's house in the middle of the night, for his friend to take down a new trumpet riff he had just worked out. -I'm a bit like that, but without his musical talents !!

Boot up time can be a problem for some.
Kronos is slow!!!
PA4X is quite quick but depends on sample loading - if you have no samples to load then boot-time is quite fast.
In this day and age computer tech is getting smaller faster and cheaper so we can only hope for this to follow on in these keyboards.
Yamaha is also slow to boot but with a difference - it will make the keyboard "playable" whilst continuing to load samples etc in the background - of course if you want to rapidly use those samples you may have to wait - quite a nice feature though.
Remember when it took 5 minutes to download 1MB of data through your dial-up modem?
So we live in hope that this will improve.
Cheers
Pete

Hi Mitzie Couldn't believe you are finding boot up slow on the Pa4
I have quite a lot loaded on mine so before playing yesterday I timed
my keyboard and from the first click to fully opened it took 61 seconds.
I agree with Pete it depends a lot on the quantity and type of the load
to vary and even then I would think it
would not be considered slow. Enjoy when it is open, cheers.

Thanks ecca for going to the trouble of timing your Pa4x boot up 61s.
I'd be interested to hear how it compares with the Tyros 4 or Pa1000?
Nevertheless thanks again

Thanks for the reply Mitzie, The Pa 1000 also has an extended song book and a fair number of set lists loaded, plus additional styles from Bonus Ware.
Timing start up, it was fully up and ready in 34 seconds.
Tyros 4 no longer available to check.

I just timed booting on my Pa4X, which is pretty well tricked out with bonusware. No samples other than those installed originally or in bonusware, assuming there is any in bonusware. Total time to boot is 44.37 seconds. Running V2.2.0.
