Velocity for VolcaFM

Post by ShoNuff »

8) there is now an unofficial, unsupported third party firmware for volcaFM,
offering velocity, as of today. i haven't tried it yet, read the post at:

ran the update last night without a hitch. now have Volca FM at firmware
"v.1.05" with velocity reception 8)

first quick tests seem to indicate that it really opens up the
potential for experimentation.

the proviso is that the vFM still only has 3 note polyphony, and the velocity is,
in a sense, 'paraphonic': last, or current, velocity value applies to all notes
held. note cut-off is quite apparent, but it is anyway: it's the main difference
with the original FM synths with more polyphony.

it does display the velocity value as you edit parameters, which is a bit
strange but this doesn't seem to matter so far.

the other thing is that the onboard sequencer does not record the velocity
received from a keyboard (possible future fix?) but this won't matter if you sequence it from something else.

following Korg's own v1.07 firmware release recently, pajen has now made available his unofficial release v1.08 volca FM firmware. check the reddit post for features:
