How to stop a looped sample live?

Post by rmdrent »

I know I've seen some discussion on this before but can't find it...
Have a looped sample that I play along with 80% of a song but then I need it to stop and don't have time to switch patches or anything like that. I have been pulling back the channel volume assigned to the sample, but really just want to assign another key to stop the sample? Anyone know how to accomplish this?
Thanks

When I play drones I assign the volume to the Vector Joystick. Then, I just move it down to stop the sound. That also provides the ability to fade out.

We have a winner here! Someone has figured out the power of COMPARE!

COMPARE
- undo weird volume/timbre/other changes
- see how your recent edits change the original
- PANIC! button to stop all MIDI notes

BTW, I'll have that sax solo sound done by mid-week. I've always wanted more expressive acoustic instruments. I'm surprised I got this far with stock samples, only wish I could do the same for trombone, as that's the instrument I grew up with...

nanoPad in toggle mode is quite good for this - you can use the Kronos chord pads, which map to the top 8 pads of nanoPad to trigger the sample.

If you set a pad on the nanoPad to toggle mode using the Korg nanoPad software, you can press once to trigger the sample, and press again to stop it.

The COMPARE button stops all sounds, so it may not be helpful if you are playing something else at the same time.
