nanoKontrol Scenes and plugins in Logic Pro X

Hello,
I have nanoKontrol Studio with Logic Pro X. I have since long been using it as a transport and basic mix control. This works fine, however I'm looking to try and control plugins such as synths and EQs etc with external midi as well. Before I buy more external midi hardware I would like to understand if my nanoKontrol Studio scenes concept can be used for this, that is can I switch between the 5 scenes and map them to different plugins?
I seem to have all the drivers and korg kontrol editor etc in place, and the scenes led indicates it being active and I can switch between the scenes. I can communicate with the editor and send data to the nanoKontrol. However as soon as I start up Logic the Scenes light seems to be disabled and I only have the transport and mix controls available.
Am I misunderstanding the basic concept here? Is there another way to do what I want or should I just fork out money for more midi controllers?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice!
