I'm looking at Korg Grandstage 88 and will be gigging with it. Have been talking with one of the large resellers here in the US about my needs and the sales engineer keeps trying to steer me away from the Grandstage because of problems with the RH3 keybed action. He says that it is a good action; however, he has found that experienced grand piano players are used to the longer, stiffer action of the grand piano and that they have seen the RH3 Keybed "breaking down" for these type of pianists. He strongly recommends the Roland RD 2000 or Nord Stage 3 for the reliability.

Is this good advice or BS? I do play a lot so this keyboard will be used daily.

My Grandstage 73 has NEVER had a problem with its RH3 keybed, and I abuse it about as badly as one can. It spends much of its life stored in my trailer between gigs, and in the winter that means many nights below freezing!

That said, I did invest in a proper SKB hard case with wheels, adding about 15-20% to the overall cost, but it's worth it for how often I've dragged that board in and out of shows, up and down stairs and slid over sidewalk curbs during load-in and load-out.

I'm not classically trained, but have always loved the RH3 action since owning an M3-88 and SV1-73. My advice is to audition the action and then make your decision. If you need a solid set of piano sounds that come with a staple of very usable 'other' sounds, Grandstage is awesome.
