Hello everyone!

We have a character upright piano - LivingRoom Upright Piano, currently in production and crowdfunding through Indiegogo, that we are looking to take to the hardware pianos, like the Korg digital pianos / stage pianos as well. When our main instrument for Kontakt/SFZ/EXS24 is done.

What are the options for creating a instrument for use with most Korg stage pianos or synths? Is there a common format for sampled instruments?

It has been mentioned that SF2 is used by some vendors but what is the proper format for Korg keyboards? Other vendors, like Nord, have software for mac/pc where you can make your own sounds. That is nice but not required. Only the proper manual and a format, text based or code based is fine.

We'd love to support more hardware pianos, for live gigs and ease of use.

Kronos has its own sound format for synths that can import samples, but they can usually (always?) also import soundfonts. See http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... torder=asc for example. Kronos/Nautilus also import soundfonts.

There's also an app called Korg Creator from Chicken Systems that can translate many formats into Korg's format.

As for Korg's digital pianos/stage pianos, none of them are capable of having new samples added to them (unless there's some hidden capability they haven't told anyone about).
