This may be a stupid question but does anyone have any knowledge of if excessive room temperatures can damage a triton or triton extreme.

I have I triton pro 76 and an extreme 76. They are my pride and joy. I have recently moved house and I have both set up in my loft. I went up today and after an hour the temperatures were unbearable. The case on the triton 76 was very warm but the extreme was cooler. I presume the plastic extreme conducts less heat. Both l.c.d screens went very pale and had to be adjusted to the Max contrast setting.

My loft windows are not being fitted until the end of June.

Has anyone ever had a problem with studio temperatures ever affecting/damaging a korg triton.

Although the Triton Extreme specification omits to mention the operating temperature range, the Korg Kronos, for example, specifies an operating range of +5 to +40 degC, non condensing. This is fairly typical of "normal use" electronic equipment, so it seems not unreasonable to consider the same temperature range to be applicable to the Triton Extreme. 40degC is a fairly unpleasant environment to be doing much in, apart from going from pool to shade :-) If you were able to stand it for an hour, that would suggest the temperature in the loft might have been in the 30-35degC range, so probably not enough to damage the Triton. However, another thing to consider is solar input. If the sun strikes the keyboard case directly, the case temperature can soon soar to well above where it might get to if operated in the shade at 40degC ambient. The internal components of the Triton will then likely be operating at higher temperatures than would be the case in 40 degrees in the shade. It may not cause immediate component failure, but would shorten the life expectancy somewhat. From memory, I think the failure rate of electronics components tends to roughly double for devery 10degC rise in temperature.

One thing to consider doing is to set up a fan to blow some cooler air into the loft e.g. a fan located below the loft hatch and pointing upwards.

Many thanks. The temperature peaked at 37 in the loft. It was bloody terrible. A few weeks ago it seemed a great idea but this past week has left me seriously dehydrated lol.
Thankfully the window fitter called this afternoon and the windows are being fitted on the 23rd.
