Hello All -- I would like to try the recently posted Blinding Lights song. The download included four files ... BL Patches.KSC, BL Patches.PCG, BL Patches.SNG and BL Patches_UserBank.KSC. I have several questions about loading these files.

I know I start by having all the files available on a USB disk or loaded onto the Kronos hard disk. Then I believe I first load the SNG file from Disk Mode. This will give me choices regarding the other files of the same name. This is where I am confused. Supposedly the song was created using only factory samples, sounds, etc. Do I still have to load the PCG and KCS files? Why two differect KSC's and do I load both? How? What about "append" and "clear:, especially with the KSC files? If I load these files, do they permanently change my Kronos setup or only until I restart?

Insight into what is going on when songs are created and subsequently reloaded would be appreciated. A recommendation on settings to load just this one song temporarily would also be appreciated.

Here are some explanations.
As a first step, it is advisable to back up your current environment (PCG, KSC) or be sure to have the factory files if this is your current environment. No problem with the SNG file which is not kept after stopping the Kronos.
The easiest way is to load everything (SNG, PCG and KSC).
The Userbank.KSC file is a second file that appeared with version 2.0.2 of the system. It allows the use of virtual memory and streaming.
Subsequently, if you want to avoid loading each time the sounds (PCG) linked to a particular song, you can keep your usual sounds and load only the necessary sounds in addition. To do this, you just have to check in the song which sounds are used (ex: INT-E000) and open the contents of the PCG file to load only the sounds you want. Then, you just have to save your personalized sounds which will remain in memory.

To understand all this, it is necessary to take a little time to go through the documentation because the kronos is rich in features and allows several ways of doing according to your expectations.

Fred - thank you for responding. Kind of what I got from reading the manuals and I guess I understand the need given the file structure of the Kronos. Just seems like a lot to load one song.

I've backed everything up and will have a go over the weekend. What can possibly go wrong?
