Footswitch assign by program NOT global?

Post by GrahamBanks »

I am afraid I know the answer, but hoping the experts on the forum might know of a solution.

I would like my footswitch to do different things in different programs, as I move through my setlist. Leslie on off for an organ, mute a string channel on a ballad, portamento on a synth.

I find that this is a global setting, which seems to be a serious flaw in an instrument built for live performance.

I don’t really want more things under my feet, three pedals is enough.

Anyone figured out a solution to this?

Thanks

Set it to Foot Switch (CC#82). This is an AMS/Dmod source, so you can assign that to do different things on a per-program basis. It will in appear in the list of stuff that control various assignable parameters. You'll see that to switch on/off the leslie effect, for example. Not sure off the top of my head if you can use it for portamento switching.

What HardSync said.

You can use it for portamento too.
Just set the Time to 0.
Then set AMS to footswitch, and amount around 40.
Portamento will be off until you press the footswitch.

Notice you can set the sustain/damper pedal to that too.
So when playing a mono lead, sustain pedal turns glide on.
