For all you Nautilus owners, can you tell me if the Nautilus has the equivalent of the Vector Joystick from the Kronos? I know on the M3, you could use the screen for a vector effect. I use it all the time on my Kronos. Since the Kronos is now discontinued, I'm looking for alternatives. Thanks.

There is no mention of any Vector Joystick equivalent in the Nautilus documentation. The CC# messages generated by the Kronos' Vector Joystick could be sent to the Nautilus via MIDI.

Is on the screen. In program mode: Page>Basic/X-Y/Controllers. In combi: Page >EQ/X-Y/Controllers.

Thanks Dan for the reply. One more question: Is it possible to change scenes when in setlist mode? Thanks.

Yes, have access to ARP/DRUM tab direct from the setlist main page.

Some people are still using Tritons. Just because your Kronos has been discontinued doesn't mean it doesn't work anymore or is suddenly somehow obsolete...

I really can't understand this mindset. People are grieving the loss of the kronos -- uh, they're dirt cheap right now. They're not going anywhere. They'll be seen on stage, in studios, and in music videos for many years to come -- I promise you that.

The global economy isn't exactly in great shape. The era of gaudy digital hardware synths is pretty much past us, at this point. It's becoming an increasingly niche market, and KORG is adjusting their price points and product features accordingly. Otherwise, Korg can continue to develop increasingly niche and expensive products, hurting their survivability, or focus on purely sub-$500 products, and that's not what we want, either.

I'd wager to say it's safe that Korg won't release something much better than the Kronos for several years.

And it's also safe to say that you have no alternative, because the Kronos really is that great. You can't expect a company to perform every ounce of its business around its most expensive flagship product.

Hey recreational: I get your mindset comment, I really do. I'm just a lowly weekend warrior with a ten year old Kronos. Really don't want to lose the live functionality of the Kronos. I'm considering a Nautilus mostly because of the 73 semi-weighted version. I'm old a dirt and size and weight weigh heavily in my purchase decisions. But on the Kronos I find the vector joystick valuable as well as the Karma scene buttons for live performance. I can get by without aftertouch, but then Korg left off the ribbon also on the Nautilus. Ugh. I HATE using 61 keys and the 73 Nautilus would be perfect for me, but the lack of controls leaves me perplexed. Okay. Enough of my rambling.

Hey Drama, for what it's worth the 73-key has a lot of room to park an external controller for additional controls on the right or left side, and it supports anything class-compliant via USB.

So lots of inexpensive options to add more twiddly knobs, ribbons, etc.

the X-Y pad on the Korg NanoKey Studio will send Vector info to Nautilus and fits perfect on the 73 key on the left side. Nautilus powers it via usb.

The videos here in this thread may offer some help as far as the Nautilus and control surface help...
