USB drive says unformated

Tried several USB thumd drives and tried formating on the Nautilus and window still shows unformated. Cannot load any purchase sounds.
Write protected? Not likely, if you’ve tried several, but something to check.
Also may want to try to format on a PC, then try reformatting from the Nauty?
